  • Molded trunk liner

Has anyone ever seen a molded rubber liner for the trunk? I would llike to find one to protect my trunk carpet if I need to put something wet in the trunk. Husky sells cargo area liners but I cannot find one from them for our birds. Anyone else know of one?

Haven't heard of one, Paul. Ford did make a vinyl full trunk mat for our birds complete with logo but those haven't been available for several years.

Those were good, but they had stitched seams and those allowed seepage. I placed a Chinese take-out container in the trunk and some sauce leaked onto the carpeted trunk mat.

We carry a folded up shower current in the spare tire well just for those types of 'occasional once in a while wish I had something' to protect the trunk. It allows the trunk to remain as it should but protection is available when needed.

I bought front mats that are molded for both my new cars and they're great. They do the big mats for the very rear of SUV's so they should be able to help you.
BTW, They usually have 2 to 4 page ads in most Automotive magazines that I subscribe to.

The mat they show is a "cut to fit". I have seen those before and I am willing to go that route if I cannot find a molded one that is designed specifically for our birds. However, I wanted to try to find a custom molded one first.

Nothing I cut ever fits, so if there isn't a molded one for the bird I'm gonna pass

The image on the weathertech web site shows a standard mat with a variety of cut lines you can follow to keep the cuts neat. However, I suspect the pre-molded cut lines are very generic and not tailored to our trunk shape. However, I have not found any alternatives so I am going to give it a closer look. If I do go this route, I will report back.

They claim that they are laser cut to match the floor. The ones in my SRX fit the flors layout exactly and they actually wrap up the side about 1 1/2"-2 ". These mats could probably hold quite a bit of water.

I have Weathertech floor mats in both my cars you can't buy anything better. The
mats are a perfect fit but as far as the generic trunk mat for the T-Bird forget it it won't
work. You all seem to forget the indent for the spare tire. Mike (steelblue5505) has the
right idea a folded shower curtain or any piece of plastic for the rare occasion that you
will have some messy or wet thing in your trunk.

I decided to go the simple route. I went to WalMart and got a black shower curtain for $9. Not elegant but it works.
