  • Mods to see and discuss at Texas Thunder

Texas Thunder will have the largest group of retro birds I have seen in one place. I want to take advantage of that by viewing and discussing some of the mods people have done that are not often seen at smaller events. Who will be at Texas Thunder with the following? I want to be sure and track you down if you have any of these.
    1) Dash trim kit - preferably a wood pattern in full black cockpit
    2) OEM vinyl trunk liner 2W6Z-6311600-AA. No longer available from Ford but I want to see what they look like in case I ever come across one for sale. (Hint - I am in the market for one)
    3) Rocker panel insert - not the chrome overlay. I know I have seen one on a web site somewhere but I cannot find it now. The panel is painted to match body color and it fills the gap under the rocker panel from wheel to wheel.
    4) Retractable front license plate - mainly just curiosity on my part
    5) Brighter bulbs in the driving lights - There are several bulbs people have used to increase brightness. Would like to see what you have done.
    6) Brighter headlights - What bulb did you use and are you happy with it. Would like to see how much brighter they are from stock
    7) Hard boot cover - Another curiosity item on my part. I have only seen one style (flat 2 piece) that I would be interested in but I would like to see some in person
    8) Under hood light - Since Ford did not see fit to give us one, I intend to add something myself but I am interested to see what others may have already done
    9) Anything else that you think I must see. I lean primarily toward items that are functional in nature

I already have some of the more common mods on mine but I also have some "less common" mods as well if anyone wants to see them. This includes the in-dash Nav system as well as a trailer hitch. With a little luck, I might have WeaponX COP's (along with Bosch Platinum+4 plugs) installed in time for the trip and I can report on what I think about them.
Never grow up. Enjoy life while you can

Paul, would you look at my gallery, it shows a wood steering wheel and wood shift knob plus a hard boot cover.

      Paul,

Didn't know you were interested or I could have shown you the vinyl trunk liner in Hot Springs. Oh well, it will still be there in Texas.

I have the most unique mod for my car Paul, Bunny ears, tail and nose. Now how many
TBNers can make that claim...... Bunny Lou

Lou, I don't know of anyone that would admit that even if they did have it.

Lou I'm worried about you! You would be safe with long horns on your T-Bird but I'm afraid of the reaction some of our cowboys may have in seeing you cruising around the Hill Country with Bunny ears, tail, & nose on your car. And, if you are wearing your wig forget it; you will be in deep trouble! But don't worry, if you are confronted by any cowboys just keep telling them how much you like their horse.

Spence...who makes those? I know I have seen them on a web site somewhere but I cannot find that site any longer.

Paul, Here you go. Gary Kemmel here on the site makes these.

Cliff, I think Lou needs to get a Texas Jackrabbit mod for Texas Thunder.
There will be a need for caution because Texans love to hunt their bunnies!!!

Mike....I will look you up for sure to see your interior. Where did you find the wood dash kit that had the right cutout for the double din face surounding the nav system?

                            Paul, Bunny Lou knows.........

I have the dash kit on my car in the marble burlwood look. My Navigation system is a double and I made the two pieces for the outer edges of the navigtion screen from extra pieces I did not use that came with the kit.
Sooooooooooo look up Bunny Lou at Texas and you can see how I did it.

Will do. I thought about that approach but was concerned how the cut edges might look compared to the other edges.
