  • Interior cover

Anyone here using one of the interior covers that covers the seating area while the top is down? I see several different ones on the market but it is hard to tell from the pictures how fast and easy it is to install. I am looking for the following:
    1) Fast and easy ....can install within a minute or so.
    2) Secure....so wind does not blow it away
    3) reasonably tight....to keep blowing dust out
    4) Safe for paint....will not scuff paint if wind is causing it to move around.
    5) Weather protection....not a requirement but would be nice to have one that give some protection from a quick shower.

If you have one that you like and you think it meets my requirements, what brand do you have?

Got mine at California Car Covers. Fits all your criteria except for the weather part. It keeps the dust, sun and leaves off but is not water proof. Dont know of any that ARE WATER PROOF.

Seems like the softtop that came with the car fills all you need with the push of a button.

If you want to keep your boot on the car this comes in handy.

            Re: Interior cover

I think Gobird has pretty much covered it all. I use mine in the garage just to keep the
interior clean. The only thing I can add is the material that mine is made of is identical
to the the material Ford used for the hardtop cover.

I think the reason most people are interested in these covers is because they use the Boot cover when they are driving topdown.

I just put my top up as you do when I leave the car, protects everything including my radar dedector and GPS as well as the upholstery.

                Re: Interior cover

I have a roadster cover, from Roadster Concepts, covers only the softtop area, also used as a cockpit cover. I can remove and replace my boot as fast or faster than putting this cover on. I use my cover primarly to protect my soft top in the driveway. The folded cover actually takes more room in the trunk than my boot. I leave the top down in parking lots or anywhere I feel safe or no sign of rain. This cover is little to no protection from people or weather, if anything, persons are curious as to what is there, wide open, they see, nothing to take.

                  Re: Interior cover

Actually, my primary goal was something to cover the car while it is in the garage. The wind in my area keeps the dust stirred up enough that it collects on my car in the garage even when I have the garage door closed. If I am working outside and have the garage door open, it is even worse. Does anyone use a plain old sheet as a dust cover in the garage?

Hey...that works for me. Simple and effective. I need to give that option a closer look.

                        Re: Interior cover

                        Paul.
I use this cover sold by Thunderbird Concepts.
                        http://www.thunderbirdconcepts.com/interiorcover.htm
Noticed it is supposively on sale right now.

It is very easy to use. It has 3 tabs made of a strap like material that also have a raise bump at the end of these very short tabs. One must open the trunk a wee bit to slide the tabs into the opening of the lid at the panel with the hi brake lite. Closing the trunk now captures the 3 tabs and the cloth cover is now held in place at the rear.
Next you pull the cloth cover forward and down over the windshield. At this end the cloth cover has 2 velcro straps that go around the windshield wiper arms. The cloth is now held in place.
If the wind is blowing or if you feel the need to further hold the cloth cover in place there is 2 more velcro straps the go around the door rear view mirrors and 2 elastic straps that secure the cover to the exterior door handles.
Pros: Quick to put on/off even with one person.
Great sun, bird dropping, dust/pollen tree sap protector.
Keeps the above off the windshield.
Folds or rolls up taking very little space.
Doubles as a dash protector by pushing it into place if parked for
long period of time in the sun.

                        Cons: Offers no security.
Will not protect interior in a heavy rain fall.
Difficult for one person to put on in strong wind.
If headrests are extended puts too much pressure on cloth cover,
need to either tip seats forward or lower headrests.
                        Need to flip sunvisors down.

We also raise the side windows to just sort of keep snooping hands out of the car.

If out doing a lot of shopping with running here & there will often keep the cover secured to car with the 3 trunk tabs while driving around. We pack the cloth down behind the seats to keep it from blowing and upon arrival at the next store only have pull it out from the seats & up & over the windshield.

We live in a very dusty climate, but it is also a very crime free area. Not to say we don't have problems, but it does allow us to keep our convertible top down and closed off with the soft boot. It is rare that we raise & lower our soft top through out the summer. It is almost always down. If you are just looking for a cover for inside your garage then like was mentioned earlier why not just use a bed sheet, a clean one.

Hope this helps. See Ya in Texas!
                        Mike

I have the one from California Car Cover, and use it quite a lot (it's keeping the pollen out of Moondoggie right now). Gave one to Charley for the Shelby last year, and he loves it. He wanted it so he didn't have to put the top up & down every time he stopped somewhere, which can be 5-6 times a day if he takes the Shelby to work.

I have the same one Mike has and it does come in handy if you are stopping for a quick lunch and don't want to bother taking the boot cover off. It's simple to use and only takes a minute or two to put on. Not water proof but it will repel a misty or sprinkling rain.
