  • Dual Coolant Control Valve Replaced

    Now here is the problem. I replaced the Dual Coolant Control Valve on my 02 T-Bird. Still blowing hot all ducts. Went to fuse box under hood on right side. There was a blown fuse in #1 which is a 10 amp. Recovered a 10 amp from the fuse box on the right kick panel. Replaced fuse and drove a couple of blocks, it blew again. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

    Hello Earl,
    Fuse #1 in the aux junction box under the hood, passenger side fender is the fuse for the A/C clutch relay, Auxillary coolant pump relay, Coolant control valve solenoid.

    Relays, Auxiliary coolant pump relay #5 and A/C clutch relay #6 are also in this same junction box.

    You might replace the blown fuse & pull either one of those relays to see if the fuse blows again. This might help you zero in on what is shorting out the fuse.

      Sure does. I checked the resistance on the old Dual Coolant Control Valve
      using terminal 2 to terminal 3 and then 2 to 1. Both registered within tolerance of 15.2 ohms. I am thinking it could be the coolant control valve solenoid. Great idea, thanks. By removing the relays one at a time would demonstrate the theory or send me off in another direction.
