  • Faded Black Boot

I have a fellow T-bird enthusiast, VMG, who has a black soft boot for his car that has faded and had the snaps come off. Question: would dying the boot be recommended so that all he would need to do is have an upholstery shop replace the snaps or would it be more expedient to purchase a new boot? Opinions?

    Re: Faded Black Boot

They could have the boot dyed and snaps replaced quicker than finding, purchasing and shipping another boot. A fraction of the cost. The aftermarket, non - original boots simply do not compare to the look and fit of the originals. Drop it at a auto - upholstery shop one day and pick it up the next.

Absolutely Auto or boat upholstery shop is the best quickest least expensive and will receive your original back better than new.

I had a snap pull out of my cover . Took it to the shop they put a new snap on & reinforced around it. Better than new. Cost FREE!!!
Can't beat that. Good luck on yours.

Just a reminder since this subject came up again. Be sure to lubricate your snaps with white grease, vaseline, color crayon(wax), or bar of soap. Makes it much less likely to pull out and are easier to snap together.

Fergi - tell your friend to go to Young's on Little Creek Rd. They are the only authorized shop for Freedom Ford, and are very experienced with all Ford products. They have done repairs for me and are extremely reasonably priced.

Thanks everyone! for all the responses. I always know to come here FIRST for anything related to our birds. I'll pass along the advice.

And Elle, thanks for the suggestion. I'll make sure to include that and have them tell 'em Elle sent 'em. (Got all that? ;-)
