The battery in my 'Bird was working fine, but it was the original and it worried me to have an eight year old battery. This morning I had it replaced at Dueitt's Battery Supply in Mobile Alabama. The service was absolutely first class and the price was very reasonable. They knew exactly what to do including hooking up a temporary power source so that I wouldn't lose any programming. I was back on the road in about 15 minutes with a new 10 year battery for $99.99 plus tax. If you are anywhere near Mobile it's the place to go for a battery.

WOW! Mine doesn't even have a back seat. And you have one big enough to hold a guy with golf clubs.....Originally posted by 04birdman View Post...also got one for my caddy which is under the back seatBird is the word.....

Re: Found a first class battery store!
It is a vented battery. The guy knew exactly what I needed before he even opened the trunk. He was very knowledgeable and professional all the way. The manufacturer is East Penn in Pennsylvania and it came with a ten year warrantee. From what I've read you may have to readjust your windows if they don't hook up temporary power, so I was glad not to have to deal with that. They also rebuild power tool batteries and carry every conceivable type of battery for electronic devices, lawn mowers, boats etc. I'm not affiliated with them in any way, I just like to pass it on when I get outstanding service.

Re: Found a first class battery store!
Thanks for the info Larry ,they have a distributor 11 miles away.In S.Fl. you can only get 3 years. warranty on a battery so this maybe a good deal. I've added it to my favorites just incase I need them.sigpic

Re: Found a first class battery store!
I recently replaced the battery in our 2002 bird. Before making the 500 mile trip to Thunder Zoo I had the battery check. It was 9-1/2 years old but was still cranking good. But when tested in showed that it was bad. I found the battery at AutoZone. The cost was $128.00 including tax and installation. Has a free replacement for 36 months and a pro-rated warranty for 7 years. Did not loose memory on anything and the clock only lost 10 minutes while the battery was dis-connected. The only difference is the new battery has AutoZone name instead of Motorcraft.Sam

Re: Found a first class battery store!
It is great that we have other choices. Hopefully some of these other batteries will be available in Canada. My replacement motorcraft battery from Ford cost me$189.00. In the US it was priced around $110.00 I bought it because I could not get another vented battery here, and the battery they sold me was already 2 years old......sitting on the shelf waiting for a buyer. I will buy my next one in the US for sure. We really get hosed for cars and parts here even though our dollar is worth more.
Cheers,
Jim

Re: Found a first class battery store!
I had a Ford dealer check my 2005 Tbird battery several months ago and about 45 days later it would not take a charge. If yours is the original battery, it is 8 years old. You are living on borrowed time in my opinion. I'm not sure how they test these batteries, but a dead cell can appear almost anytime on one that old. I at least would not go on any long trips with that old of a battery, and if it makes it though the summer I would replace it before next winter. But that is just me, I don't like the hassle of a dead battery. If the window-drop feature on your Tbird starts misbehaving, it is a sign of future battery failure.Originally posted by Sumerbird View PostI had my michanic check my battery with his Snap-On tester and all was Good ?
My Tbird is a 2003 I am a little leery it will give me greef one day soon.Last edited by V8 Cat; May 13, 2011, 08:16 PM.sigpic

Re: Found a first class battery store!
From what I've read and did experience batteries in T-Bird's don't give to much warning .... they just drop dead at least that's what mine did.Everything was OK and the next morning dead as a door nail.sigpic

Re: Found a first class battery store!
Agreed. I rolled the dice on our original battery and lost, it died a week ago the very evening before our drive to Texas. At least it died in my driveway instead of someplace on the road. It lasted 8 years and 10 months that I owned and drove the car. I'll replace the next one after 7-8 years before it goes dead.Originally posted by Larro View PostIt's nice to choose the time and place of your battery replacement rather than have it thrust upon you unexpectedly.PK- 2002 Premium Blue/Full Accent/Whisper White Top

Re: Found a first class battery store!
I agree, I was at my michanic with the thought of replacement and was very suprised it was good and passed the test. I dont trust the 8 year old Battery. I will replace it in a few weeks. (unexpected no start would be bad) Thanks for the feedback.
