Seems my '05 oil is higher on the dipstick than it should be after a dealer oil change. How far above the top hole is allowed? Looks to be 1/4 to 3/8 inch (1 day cold). Does that mean the dealer put in too much oil? Problem?

Simple solution.....the T-Bird (2005 & other years) takes 6 1/2 quarts. How much oil (quarts) were you charged for??

Re: ENGINE OIL LEVEL
I had the same problem the last 2 times I had an oil change at my local Ford Dealer. I think the source of the problem might be that they are putting in the required amount of oil (6.5 qts) & then adding "mouse milk" (Ford's answer to STP oil additive). They charge me for it & it (the "mousemilk") shows up on my bill. I go back each time & tell them to drain out a little to bring it down to the proper level on the dipstick. They do. But I did my own oil change the last time. The solution for both of us: tell them to put 5W20 blend oil -- & only 5W20 blend oil -- in the engine. Anything else: pour it in their coffee.

Re: ENGINE OIL LEVEL
Changed my oil this week and as always put in 6.5 quarts of Motorcraft 5W20. My current level is about a 1/4" below the Full hole in the dipstick. Just proves that it's not just how much oil you put in, but, also how much you are able to drain out. (I let mine drain overnight and had a floor jack lifting the car opposite the drain plug). If you allow a dealer or others to change your oil, they may not be draining as much.

Re: ENGINE OIL LEVEL
Changed mine last week... 6.5 Qts ... little above the holes but I know how much oil is there, so no problem.
