Rear Tie Rod

05/09/11 While replacing my '05 (61k miles) rear sway bar end links (Ford ESP) the tech wrote up the left rear tie rod end. The part is back ordered with no expected delivery date. Seems like this would be a rather common part for a lot of cars with independent rear suspension. The FPN is 6WAZ-5B551-AA, Description: LINK 100707.

I don't recall reading about problems with this part. Has anyone else had a failure? Is it a common suspension part? Any advice for finding a replacement? My car is drivable, but I'm reluctant to start a long trip knowing something needs replacing. (the bird ain't just transportation)

....Tom....first thought....check with a Lincoln/Mercury (re; the LS) and a Jaguar dealership...(re; the S-Type)....rear tie rods might be the same....
