  • All Ford Nationals 2011

Just got back from the All Ford nationals 2011 at the Carlisle fairgrounds. A beautiful day, 75 degrees and no humidity. The event was crowded, lots of vendors and many cars on the fun field. 3/4 of the show cars were Mustangs. They represented all years and models. There were quite a few late model Shelby's. All of them were beautiful. If you took a Mustang there you would certainly be humbled by the large number of very special cars. The Thunderbirds were just off to the left on what is known as the North field. Unfortunately there were very few there. I saw two 57's, no 55's or 56's. There were also a few of the mid years, I saw one square bird. As for our retro birds there were only 12 there and one had the 57 front end, hood scoop and tail fins. It was for sale for $28,000 !!!! None of the remaining 11 stood out in any way. I looked hard at a 1935 2 door sedan, the year of my birth. But he wanted $18,000. and I have no way of knowing how close to original it was. So, I came home with wallet still in my pocket.

We will not be at All Ford Nationals this year, first time since buying the bird. We are in the process of closing on our house. Hope everyone is having fun.

Was that the one next to the pavillion at the car corral? It really looked different (strange). I think the kit to do it yourself was $4,000
I fell in love with a beautifully restored '65 Mustang coupe that was for sale under the pavillion. It was light yellow with a two-tone tan pony interior and rare factory front bench seat. It was a great buy for $14,900. (I got his phone number "just in case").
The only retrobird I saw in the corral was a red '02 and I think they were asking about $28,000. It wasn't that great and had quite a few miles on it. Way over-priced!
I went up yesterday and the weather was perfect. And, the crowd was relatively light for a Friday. Great way to spend a day.

The retro birds were all parked to the left after you entered gate 3. The one with the "'57" modifications was with them. Sorry. I didn't see the Mustang you fell in love with. The '35 Ford was under the pavilion as well. Light rain fell this aftetrnoon at about 3:00 pm so I don't know how many stayed.

Hit the show yesterday and today. Great show. A lot of beautiful cars and any part you could want. My first time but hope to go back.

We were there Friday from about 10 AM to 4PM. Probably the best weather day for this event in 10 years, maybe ever. There was a smattering of all year Birds, and about a dozen retros. Lots of turbo and super coupes which is a good thing. The focus of this event continues to be Mustangs IMHO. I think it won"t be much longer before there is an All Mustang event like for the Corvettes. Then again, maybe the promoters feel there won't be enough of the other marques if they take the Mustangs out of the mix.

I don't know what the promoters think about making the All Ford show a Mustang show, but I know that the GMC show is a very small event with no Corvettes there.
