How fast will it go ?

I've been stupid enuff to put the MKVIII on the chip a few times - Have no intention of doing that on the 2002 T Bird but someone out there was stupid enuff to do it I'm SURE so what's the Top end on 2002 T Bird ____?

With the speed limiter on it, somewhere around 140mph. Several here have had it there.

My 04 will only go 110 at which point my nerves get me to slow down.

Around 142 to 143 before limiter kicks in. Been there done that.

Fast enough that after seeing the aftermath photos from a teenager wrapping a Challenger hemi 2 weeks old that was a graduation present around a tree here last week at 129 mph with 3 friends inside that I am not going to try to find out ...

Been up around 145 to 150...(my limiter is disabled thanks to the SCT tune).

That's good. Four people in a T-Bird would be too many... although I did have two blondes with me for a night drive to the boardwalk a few years ago, but if you knew the neighborhood wives that wouldn't surprise you....

It would surprise me, thinking of the typical well-fed ladies here in the southland (viz. Walmart babes...) - could never shoehorn them in!

There isn't anything wrong with speed. It comes down to experience and good judgment, neither of which teens have.

Spence, I'm sure you (and I) can drive, but there's always the unforseen.

Animal runs out in the highway, tire blows or hits an obstruction in the highway.

Sure, bad stuff can happen at 65 mph, but at 100 plus?

Odds are with the 65 mph car.

Fastest I went (twice) was 120 mph, once in my new 65 Vette heading down the NJ Tpke about 3AM. Then, the unexpected happened; ran into a fog bank. Got blinded. Fortunately, no cars around and highway was straight.

Second time (actually the first), coming back from a NY State bar (to Jersey) in my 57 Olds 98 convertible (top down) on the Palisades Interstate Parkway with three buddies after a night of shots and beers. Not drunk, but I'm sure I wasn't cold sober, either.

Stupid, stupid, stupid, but I was 19, and at 19, you live forever.. almost.

When I came home from Nam I drove a company 67 427 Vett 140 by the speedometer, I regulary drove my 68 428 Ford over 110. Thank goodess I have learned better. Back then there were long straigt country roads.

Back then I collected a total of three tickets at various times all written "IN EXCESS OF 100 MPH". We felt invincible back then, having survived a year in 'Nam.
Have had the Bird just over 150 but always seems to run up on traffic too quick to find top end.
