  • Turnsignal Help!!!!

I've read the forums, and thanks to them and all of you,I can now pull the headlights and taillights out and replace the bulbs, easily.Having done this,my problem still exists.
When I turn the left turn signal on,the right dash arrow and blinker works. When I turn the right blinker on nothing happens.
    All input appreciated,Thank's C.J.

I concur with Dot! Had the same problem with our 02 Lincoln LS and it was the clock spring! More than just a spring I might add! The part was about $200.

This happened to my Goldilocks in 2009. It was the instrument cluster that had to be replaced. Part had to be ordered, and odometer had to be set at the factory to my actual milage. Thread on the this can be found here:

have you checked the ground to the front and rear turn signal bulbs? In the old days that was a common cause of the problem you desribe.

Hi Nesters! I'm a newby and I'm having the same problem: turn on the left signal and the right signal flashes quickly on the instrument panel; flashers do not work, in fact the flasher button will not stay down.

What to do? What to do? Called 2 Ford dealers and no one's ever heard of the problem! Thank you all for your help. I've read all of the replies, is it the instrument panel cluster? or the ground?

Hi Barb, I know you said you'd read all the replies. but Elle said in the # 5 response that she had experienced the same problem, and that the problem was in the instrument cluster panel

She also posted a link in her response that explains it all, but here's the bottom line...

The Dealership had to order the part, and the odometer had to be set at the plant with her Bird's actual reading. Her Dealership had it fixed in a day, once they'd received the part.
It was covered under her warranty, less the $50 deductible

                          Re: Turnsignal Help!!!!

                          Hi Tootiebird,

Since I have the same problem...this is what happened last Tuesday...
The garage ordered a new turn signal switch, it had shorted out...I was back on Thursday for them to put it in...only took 45 minutes! But, the signals were still not working properly and only worked intermittently with the headlights on!

More diagnostics... They found another electrical problem that they traced back to the Instrument Cluster (Thank you Elle). So now the bill is upwards of $500.+

I take it back tomorrow to have the instrument cluster put in (Same story as Elle's) factory set odometer reading...$690.00 for the panel, then comes the labor....GRRRRRRR.

This little venture has now cost at least $1300. Time for an Extended Warranty in my future...however, here in CT, our former Atty General nixed the warranty scammers (thank you, Dick Bleumenthal) and I am now talking with a Ford dealer. I'd called at least 3 and none of them sold Extended Warranties! I did find one company in Winsted, CT that told me that ALL Ford Dealers in the country, since 2008 are able to sell Extended Warranties to Ford owners!!! Many just don't wish to do so. I found that the Ford warranty was more comprehensive in coverage and at a better price than those advertised on the 'net. Most of those are not allowed to do business in CT however...their brokers are not licensed.

Thanks everyone for all the help here. Tootie, I'm sorry to have to say that you may have to "bite the bullet" and have them check out your instrument panel cluster too....so sorry...

                          Barb

Thanks, Elle, I have a call into Lou now. The total repair bill has now escalated to $1500., so there is definitely an ESP in my future! Thank you for all of your help.
