Re: Anyone up for a weekend project?

GREAT EFFORT AND NICE WORK---JUST DON'T THINK THE LINES ARE AS SMOOTH AS AN ORIGINAL 57. I, AS I AM SURE MANY OF US DO SPEND HOURS LOOKING AT OUR BIRDS TRYING TO FIGURE OUT WHAT TO ADD TO GIVE IT THAT EXTRA SPECIAL LOOK!! MY GOAL IS TO ADD SOME MINOR BUT SUBTLE CHANGES TO MY 03. I LOVE THE 50'S AND SOME 60'S BIRDS--IF THAT IS WHAT I WANTED I WOULD BUY ONE OF THEM. IN THE NOT TO DISTANT FUTURE, HOPEFULLY THE NEWER BIRDS WILL BE CLASSICS AS WELL!! THAT BEING SAID, I PREFER TO KEEP THE ADD ONS TO A MINIMUM.

OK, IMHO the red one looks good from that angle; however, I am a puritan, and think that Ford's designers came up with a pretty good rendition in the 02-05 T-Birds, just as they are. Hopefully, there are a few more puritans out there who will maintain em' pristine for the next generation of T-Bird enthusiasts.

The fins on the 57, tapered down around the door handles, since the retro's have the flush door handles it doesn't work. I agree with those who say if you want a 55,56,57 just buy one. There are just to many things fighting that look including no chrome bumpers. Some so called work of art should be aborted.

I'm not usually a fan of this kind of stuff, but this doesn't totally turn me off. If the fins were toned down a bit, it might be workable for me...but not at their price.

I like the old birds but the retro's are a class of their own too and I rhink Ford got it right. A reminder but not a copy-cat. I think they will survive on their own over time and while may never fund a retirement will always have a market

I completely agree. The designers built mock-ups w/a modern version of the 1950s wrap-around windshield, squared-off wheel well openings, hooded headlights and more verticle round taillamps. There was even talk about doing horizontal style taillights inspired by the 1964 'Bird. The finished product (slightly modified by J Mays) was the cleanest and most elegant design choice in my opinion.

As others have said, looks like the Batmobile. If your gonna do the 57' version then you have to extend the rear dimensions just like they did in 57'. If not then they should have done the fins straight up like the 55' @ 56' model. Either way I don't like it. If you want something that looks like a 57' Tbird then go out and get a 57' Tbird.
