  • News: The Thunderbird Sport Roadster Concept is

going up for auction from Ford Motor Company thru R&M Auctions.
RM’s Monterey auction podium next month, August 19 – 20 in California. Sounds about the same time as the Pebble Beach Concours.

Here's an article, 3rd paragraph. The rest is on a Chrysler product.

Maybe it will end up next to the Supercharged in Dallas.

Re: News: The Thunderbird Sport Roadster Concept is

And beyond the cool rarity of the car, Ford will provide all sale proceeds to benefit the the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. This is a very good thing.

The catalog states that: Please also note that this vehicle is not DOT- or EPA-certified. It cannot be registered for highway use in the United States and is offered on a bill of sale only. I think Dot should certainly be certified to have it.....

Thanks for the information, Dot, this was interesting to read about.

Very sweet looking Thunderbird. But if you can't register it.....

I have a remote controlled version of that car. Maybe it's worth about $10,000.00.

It's a gorgeous car, but I wouldn't buy a car I couldn't drive, no matter how much money I had.

Man that Tonneau looks great - Ford should have thrown that in with the Hardtop~!

Re: News: The Thunderbird Sport Roadster Concept is

Notable omissions and changes on this concept...

                      - It is missing Side Marker Lamps, the High Center Brake Light and Sun Visors.

                      - The Tonneau is a smooth one piece unit to the Trunk Lid. Not just a soft top opening cover.

Wonder what's missing that can't be seen. I remember reading that one of the previously sold concepts had windshield wipers mounted but no motor for them.

On a side note... It does have the highly desirable Cassette Player option.

Could it have those racing floor mats or the high speed trunk mat? The interior is very nice though!! Now If the stock market would jump, I might be interested!!
                        Cheers,

I want the wheels they are the rare 8 spoke wheels that were on all the early 2001 literature but never made it to production.

                            Thank you Dot,

Sweet! Red w/white interior, and red carpeting. Too rich for my blood. Though would have liked a shot at the Supercharged concept which is now in Dallas, TX. That one went for 60K and change. However, I may have had trouble finding an adept auto-technology geek who would be capable of getting the SC running.
