    Re: Getting Rid of Car

Do not use just any old cleaning fluid on the MAF. There is a special fluid made specifically for cleaning the MAF. Sold at any auto supply house.

yep, removed the components and cleaned them has well has checked for burn marks cracking or any other possible damage. no visible defects. disconnected and reconnected each component with vehicle running to insure that there was a change in the operation. usual indication that the components may be working. idle change each time. however, the revving of the engine did not change, connected or disconnected. Still acted the same in regardless.

Don't know, but i had a bad temperature sensor do the same thing, never threw a code, but would force it into limp mode after a few minutes or running.

If you are a former certified mechanic, pull the throttle body and examine it.

Our tbird malfunctioned like yours; they changed the throttle body and all was good. I still have the body out in the garage somewhere...I'll try to take a closer look at it.

[EDIT: One other Ford site has complaints similar to yours and their answer was a bad Transmission Range Sensor. Another had "Found the problem with the truck. Pulled the harmonic balancer off and the key-way had a half inch slot wore in it. put it out of time.Put a new one on and it has more power now than it had."

Another: "My issue of no acceleration has been resolved, code was the throttle control valve -stuck closed. Once we cleared the code it began to idle correctly, mechanic that was helping me resolve the issue said that the throttle control valve was probably gummed up. We disassembled the throttle control valve and sure enough it was gummed up inside, cleaned up with fuel injector cleaner. Mileage is close to 70000. Thank God for great neighbors with extremely expensive tools. Lesson to be learned - you never know what can happen when you disconnect your battery."]
