The back of the soft top where the glass meets the fabric is starting to peel off. Any ideas for a fix? I've circled the part that I am talking about. Thanks.

Re: soft top question
See my post #31 on the thread that Spence linked. Still valid; the repair has held for months in all kinds of weather and countless raising/lowering of the top.- Ted

Thanks for the info... I'm nervous messing around with stuff on my own when it comes to cars... I may bring it in to my auto glass place and see what they quote me. If it's high, I may try to do it myself...

Re: soft top question
Before I start calling around... what was the cost of the repair? I'd just like to have an idea of around what I should be paying..Originally posted by Silverbird05 View PostI had the same problem this spring and took it to a local auto glass shop. They fixed it with a special glue and so far so good.

The special glue was probably cyanoacrylate available in hobby shops. I
would be looking for the type used to bond rear view mirrors to windshields.
Just about any glue will bond to canvas the problem is bonding to glass.

Re: soft top question
Thanks... I brought it in to a couple of places today. The first place wanted $590 for a new windshield. I took it to the auto body shop I use and he glued the small piece that was coming off for $10. Now we'll just see if it holds...Originally posted by Silverbird05 View PostI can't recall the exact amount but it wasn't very much - certainly under $100.
Good luck with it.
I'm attaching a picture as well... Are the parts that I circled in red supposed to be glued to the glass too? I don't think they are, but would appreciate someone else checking their bird to see if it is or isn't.Attached Files

Re: soft top question
Checked mine and it's not glued to the top itself. Feels like it's glued or fastened to something under the glass on those circled parts of your pic. They are Here. Scotty, beam me up!IT'S 5 O'CLOCK SOMEWHERE

Re: soft top question
So you can lift up the parts that I circled? I can fit my hand underneath that part of the top...Originally posted by Gobird View PostChecked mine and it's not glued to the top itself. Feels like it's glued or fastened to something under the glass on those circled parts of your pic.

Re: soft top question
We had the same repair done in May at the local glass and interior specialist, $150, well worth it. He said it will last awhile, but at some point we'll need a new top, $1,500. I'm hoping since the car is now a pampered garage queen the top won't need to be replaced.PK- 2002 Premium Blue/Full Accent/Whisper White Top

Re: soft top question
What did they do for the repair? Did you get a new glass window? I couldn't justify spending $600 when I could just buy an aftermarket top for around the same price.Originally posted by FUN X 3 View PostWe had the same repair done in May at the local glass and interior specialist, $150, well worth it.
