        Re: bunch of hot air

We recently took a Sunday drive to Cajun country. AC worked great until we stopped for lunch and restarted the car...Air would not cool to comfort level and eventually we had to open windows but was not blowing straight hot air...
I figured that after 8 years without a problem that it was likely low on refrigerant. That ended up being the case. Tech topped it off and could not find a leak. ..but he added dye to the refrigerant just in case there was a leak he could trace the problem. Cost $42 and has been working great ever since.

I've been very lucky with my 94 TBird and a/c.

Have not touched the a/c system in 150,000 miles and almost 18 years.

          But, transmission issues.....not so lucky.

I'm not an expert, but I think all of these problems with the Tbird and LS AC has to do with the dual zone (driver & Passenger) temperature feature.

              Re: bunch of hot air

Mine went out on test drive when I bought it. Dealer replaced compressor which had an internal leak. Supposedly that is a common problem with some fords. My '94 F150 has the coldest A/C I have ever seen in a vehicle and never been touched. My '04 Expedition has had 3 actuaors replaced in the rear air. In 50 years of cars Fords have been the least trouble for me and the Co. I used to work for.

mine was the radiator fan not working. Thanks to hiway miles I never overheated the engine. But the a/c blew hot.

Mine did same thing. Only needed additional recharge of refrigerant (apparaently seals became dry and it leaked). Minor expense.

I haven't had to charge or replace anything on my 94's a/c. Figure after 17 years and 150,000 miles, something should have required repair.

(Hope I didn't just jinx myself.)

True, it's a less complicted system than the newer TBird or LS's, but not even a leak anywhere?

Also, I would have bet it was a heater control valve issue.

                        Re: bunch of hot air

Last years I had the issue w/hot air blowing out of the drivers vent while cold air came out of the passenger vents. I dropped the thermostat to 60 degrees (the lowest setting) on BOTH sides and cold air came out of both sides.

Just got a call from my mechanic heater control valve $410.

He said it threw 4 codes but first recommended fix was the valve. Cleared all codes.

Yep ... that happened to me a few years ago. Heater control valve ... about the same price as he's asking from you.
