Re: Time for a new top.

Last year I replaced the rear curtain only on my cashmere bird.
The EZ-Top replacement matched perfectly. That might be because the previous owner never had the hard top off and I purchased the car Dec 2010.
I was told by a top man to examine any stitching carefully because that's what will deteriorate first.

Re: Time for a new top.

My name is Newana and I just joined a few days ago. I have the Bronze 2005 50th Anniversary edition I bought from the female owner who also had never had the hardtop off. I bought it 2 years ago and it is garage kept but the glue below the window on the lower section has started coming loose. I also took it to a shop that custom makes and installs tops and he told me about the 2-parts but to replace the whole top was going to cost me about 4000.00. I was told there was not a glue to use that would repair this top. I did not believe that and got on line and discovered I was not the only owner with this problem. I understand 3M makes a glue that works fine...has anyone out there had this problem and been successful in repairing the top. I have put on my hardtop for the time-being and I hate not having the top down.

Re: Time for a new top.

The cost for the materials (the top and separate glass window section) is around $1100. The interior headliner is in excellent condition as is the covertible top well so those will not be replaced.

Here are a couple of links that discuss the same issue, and what other members did to fix it:
