Ron,depends on the show. This one was broken up in different categories. Mine was in model years 2000-2012,stock or custom. It was "Point Judged". The one 6yrs ago was "People's Choice'

Ron - - - It also depends on who is sponsoring the show.
If it is a local chapter of a certain make or style car, then those connected with that type will vote for their own group, & win the people's choice prizes.

However, if it is "point judged", then it will be less biased, more objective. I definitely prefer "point judged".

The last show I entered was sponsored by the Mustang Club. Nearly ALL the PEOPLE'S CHOICE Awards were, naturally MUSTANGS. My Bird was "point judged" (very strict), and I won a GOLD AWARD. I received a perfect score plus an extra point for displaying my fire extinguisher.

In most "point judging", your top has to be UP, windows half way up, hood up and trunk open and empty. I put my top down as soon as the judging is over.

You need to enter a couple of shows. You will enjoy the experience. It can be very competitive. Always a sense of satisfaction when you win an award, especially in the big shows.

          Re: SOME THINGS REPEAT THEMSELVES

Our local classic car club has a standing rule that member cars can't be judged. This encourages more participation in the show and as a result benefits the club.

WOW I always believed that RED did not rquire the white top and looked better all red. You have changed my mind again. That is one beautiful Tbird.

I really enjoy participating in car shows because our Retrobirds are admired by people who sometimes didn`t even know they existed... and then there are the spectators who appreciate our cars and want to learn more about them... I have had many, many great experiences.

Mark, I agree. There have been many memorable moments.
Others have reported also on these entertaining questions and comments at the shows:

                " Who makes that? Lincoln??"

"Its an import, right?" " Is it German?"

"I remember my neighbor had one when I was in high school - -EXACTLY like yours, but it was blue."

"So, what year is it?" " It looks old, but there is something different."

" It looks 50 years old, but where is the clutch? Did you change it to automatic transmission?"

"No kidding. FORD really made that?"

Hey, I don't make this stuff up. Our Retro Birds bring all kinds of interesting comments and questions at these shows. Sometimes, I just smile. I always have a good time.

Great stuff. I haven't entered a show in many years, but all were point judged and fun but competition was very entense, especiall in Ford classes. looking foward to doing it again, not to win but to see and hear the reactions

I think my all time favourite was from a young lad who looked about 12 years old and said "That's the nicest '55 TBird that I have ever seen..." You can imagine my mixed feelings of surprise and humour - firstly, a 12 year old who even knows that there was a Tbird in '55, and then to think the Retrobird was it.... nice young fellow. You just don't know what comments will come up during a car show. Try one this season, you will have fun !

Another car show quote just came to mind.... " Why is there a V8 badge on the fender?"

Years ago, a friend's daughter who had just lost her dad, told an insurance agent "My daddy said there were two colors for cars; red and ugly."

Your car makes me think her dad was right.
