Today while in the garage I dropped a piece of wood right on the corner of the drivers side rear taillamp. The damage is minimal but I can clearly see the crack. Any suggestions as to where I can purchase the rear taillamp assembly. I assume that I have to replace the entire unit. My Ford dealer quoted me $195.00 while the official Ford parts website prices it at $118.00 and the passenger side unit is higher at $126.00.

Re: Taillamp replacement
Order the tail light, and put it in yourself. It takes only a few minutes to move the 2 trunk panels out of the way held in place by plastic push pins- undo the two nuts holding in the assembly- firmly but gently pop the assembly straight back from the car to remove it (rubber indexing pin)- twist the lamp sockets out and reverse the process for installing the new one. $118 sounds good to me, I paid $110 for the Drivers side about a year ago- and this was a used but near perfect assembly. The only problem is finding them in stock, if they have one grab it. Do the search for this here...several threads that will even give you the steps and wrench size, and some quick short cuts for next time- wing nuts!

Re: Taillamp replacement
My Ford dealer said if I found any part from a dealer on-line for less than his price he would meet it or beat it. Works for me, and no shipping cost. Leroy

Thank Leroy! I'm going to my dealer tomorrow for a service and will ask them.

Re: Taillamp replacement
I went to my Ford dealer today for a service and spoke with the parts department regarding the taillight. The $118.00-$126.00 price listed on the Ford parts website was incorrect. The taillights run around $200.00 w/my Ford discount. I'll start looking on eBay and other sites but may end up just buying it at the dealer.

Re: Taillamp replacement
Try www.teamford.com
select parts, then make, model, year, etc
electrical, rear lamps...
discounted price $168.99, (if they have it or can get it)
There are other dealerships that have online access like theirs to look up parts. I have ordered from these guys before, though. I have also printed their price and showed it to my dealership who (almost) met the price. With shipping it would have been the same, I think.
Good luck.~Jimmy

Re: Taillamp replacement
Just bid and won a left side front headlight assembly for my '03 on ebay. New NOS and got it for $ 76.00 (plus s & h). Is that a good price ? now I have to order the two small holding clips form local Ford dealer. Hope they are still available as one of mine is missing.

Re: Taillamp replacement
Thanks Bruce. I see two for each side in the shop manual. (they are different lengths) Would assume they are the same pair for both sides. Also one nut at the top. On mine it is the long clip that is gone when the slot for the clip broke off for some reason.
