Wonder if the P T Cruiser guys are worried? All 2 and 1/2 million of them. If theese cars were like door knovs nobody would want one any way.
I don't think parts for the first generation TBirds were ever an issue. Most of the parts came from the larger mass-produced Ford models so there was plenty of inventory from Ford. The 2-seaters have always been very desirable and later after-market companies filled the void for parts and continue to do so.

Bruce, That's correct. One of our granddaughters is in her first year of collage and has no interest in driving at this time.
I also was 16 when I got my licenses in 1964 and passed my test the first time. My dad said he would buy me a car if I could pay the insurance. I ended up with a 1955 Studebaker and it cost $50.00. But for me it was freedom because we lived 10 miles north of York and at $.30 per gal. I could buy the gas to travel to the Big City.

The world is going to end on December 22nd, so you might as well keep your Bird until then. Won't have to worry about parts after the end comes.

Roger, Clean your car, then you and Bonnie put the top down and take a nice ride to Sonic, notice alllllllll the heads than turn while you two sit there
and drink your milk shakes. Then think of alllllllllllll the friends you have made
because of that little car. Bet you will not think of selling ........

                  Roger,
Say it ain't so! You are one of the last ones I thought would ever sell. Your Tbird is so unique with the high quality of modifications that if you are going to sell, would it be better to do it through one of the major auctions? I do understand your fear of lack of replacement parts; especially electronics. It is scary sometimes to see the problems some TBN members have with getting a critical part like the wiring harness to the engine.

Due to a change of circumstances, I will probably be putting my 'bird up for sale in a few days. She's a beauty and will be sorely missed. Only 5424 miles. I have the Ford ESP, too.

By coincidence, there is an almost identical car, with identical miles, in the Barrett Jackson Palm Beach auction this Friday. The only difference is that the auction one has a full accent and mine has the partial accent. Personally, I prefer the partial accent as, in my opinion, the full accent adds too much color to the interior.

Here is a link to the one in the auction: http://tinyurl.com/79u2kx6 Just search for 2002 thunderbird and you will see it.

I'll probably wait to see what the auction one sells for before determining a price for mine.

                        Regards - Roger

Well for those interested I was at B/J auction in West Palm today. The Bird being quoted was sold for $24,500 and the bidder backed out. The winner was next to last at $23,500 a gentleman and his wife (it's her car ) They have an 04 Merlot which they will be selling they told me. The 02 was in great shape without a mark or flaw. I told them about the nest maybe they will join and Good Luck again to them.
As a P.S. there was another 02 in the parking lot same color 15K at $31,000

In contast, when I hit 16 in 1979 I HAD to have a car. My parents matched the money I saved from various jobs (do teenagers even work today?) and I went out w/my brother and bought a 1969 Pontiac Firebird convertible. BTW, according to articles I have read in various car magazines, the car companies are very concerned as many younger people have little to no interest in cars. What a difference a generation (or two) makes:)
Hemmings Classic Car magazine used to have (may still have) an article every month toward the back of the magazine called "The Next Generation." It was about a young person (sometimes they weren't even old enough to have a license yet!) who had taken possession of an 'older' car and they shared their love of the car through the article. It's was Hemmings' way of bridging the gap between the older gearheads and the young people. I always found the articles fun to read...
