  • April/May AARP Magazine

For those of you who receive the AARP mag, check out the article that starts on pg 46..."American Beauties". Nice rendering of a '57 Bird & a 'Vette. Nice article, too, about the dying breed of car collectors.

I tried to post the article, but it was too large of a file. The artwork is fabulous. Interestingly enough, if you check out the electronic version, the cars are a Mustang and Camaro rather than the Tbird and Vette.

Sorry! I honestly didn't see that. My issue didn't arrive until yesterday...and NO, it's not a "large print" version!

                  Re: April/May AARP Magazine

Interesting - Skip sent me a copy from his magazine with the Corvette & Thunderbird, however my print copy has the Mustang & Camaro and it begins on page 50 instead of page 46.

I wonder if they have two different Magazines based on age demographic? I am after all, a young senior, ha!

On Page 2 it lists the magazine as Volume 55, Number 3A – the one with the Corvette & T-bird must have a different designation.

Mine is Volume 55, Issue 3B. Very interesting. I wonder where the age break occurs if there are issues for different age demographics? I'm a mid-range senior, I guess (65 next week), but the Mustang and Camaro were certainly cars of my youth and coming "of age" in the 60s. Then again, our subscription is in Barb's name, and she is much younger than me. But I am glad my issue has the TBird, which is always at the top of my list of cars I'd like to have. There would be a '57 in my garage if it wasn't for the retro coming along.

Our subscription is in Margaret's name and like Skip's wife Barb, she's a whole lot younger than me. We got the same copy as Paul.

Mine is volumn 55, #3B, like Skip's. Also, on page 1 is a drawing of a '57 T-Bird, rear view, with the license plate "Rt 66". Perhaps it is related to where you live.

My issue is going to Steve Legal. He made a request on FB, and I forgot to mention that to him here. I don't need more "stuff" cluttering up the house after I read it!

                          Re: April/May AARP Magazine

Finally got around to reading it. I am not a big AARP fan. I need to read again but the article seemed a little contradictory to me.Talked about no new car guys and a short supply and a buyers bargain.I don't see a return even longterm that I would call an investment. Older well done restorations can be found at bargain prices, but not at a Barrett-Jackson. A 40's or 50's madel could be a good buy as a toy. The muscle cars are still bring bretty hefty prices but I think they have peaked also. It all will depend on number of car guys vs. number of cars but agree not many newer tha '70 will be desireable.
