After eight years of cleaning the WWs (I got my first set in 2004), I think I'm just going to get red lines the next time I need tires. Although I love the WWs and think they are beautiful on the retro Birds and I love the compliments, I'm getting tired of cleaning them. They need to be cleaned a couple of times a week minimum, especially the front ones.

I agree, Ray....cleaning them is a chore. I've considered going to a different brake pad to reduce the dust, but the ceramic pads are prone to cause premature rotor replacement, and that's the worse of two weevils!

Jim, I switched to ceramic pads and didn't discover too much of a difference as far as brake dust,mainly on the fronts. Still a pain cleaning the whitewalls but a great look when I'm finished. I'll stick with the whitewalls.

I have had big success with ceramic pads reducing brake dust. As far as cleaning both the wire wheels and WWs, it is a chore but as Ron mentioned, the work is worth it based on the results.

Cleaning white walls does get tedious. I'm considering going this route for my next set. I think it will compliment the saddle interior quite nicely...

Mark & Ron, have either of you noticed any additional wear to the rotors due to the ceramics? I've heard there are a couple drawbacks to the ceramics: greater wear to the rotors and brake squeal. However, it's a moot point I guess if you're still dealing with the brake dust.

Doubutsu, Thanks for the info and picture. The Red lines in that picture really don't look that good to me, maybe it's the wheels they're on? I like WWs better I think and your Wires are really sharp with the TBird caps.

I too think the harder pads " ceramic, or metalic " will eat up totors. Fords are bad about rotors warping when turned. I prefer softest pads possable, and change them often without turning rotors. Yes breakdust is an issue and a real pain on 16 spoke wheels and whitewalls. But hey everything has a price.

That is why at about 45000 miles, I put on slotted rotors and ceramic pads. I have 115000 on the car now and both are still fine.

Also, far less brake dust.

I think WWs on a WW look just fine. I think they'd look good on every color. This is my second set. I opted for the WWs with the red accent stripe this time:

I think that they look great.
Could you tell me the make of the tires, am having some difficulty finding them here in Canada. Any info would be helpfull. I spend the winter in Fla. so i could pick them up there if necessary.

Leroy, what I think is a redline or whitewall might start looking different on a larger tire. We grew up seeing them on 15 inch and smaller. 17 inch and bigger tires start looking a little strange.
