  • Found one I can afford

OK, a 2002 that had the front left fender, and door skin replaced. It also comes with NO top. Looks good from the pics. It's got 44k on it. I can have it at my house for 13k.

    Thoughts?

When you say NO TOP do mean no hardtop or not even a convertible top?

For another $999 you can buy Ron Busche's white top from California. That would be the longest relay ever. I might even offer to run it from Memphis to Nashville for you.

I should have said no hard top. Rag top is fine.

Hard tops aren't that much. Most going for between $1,000 amd $1,500 if you look for it over time and aren't in a hurry for one..

Actually 44k on any other ten year old car is low mileage. Is the car a toy or a daily
driver? Mine is just a toy and driven ninety-nine percent of the time as roadster. I do
install the hardtop in the winter just because its in the way in the garage. I have never
driven mine with the rag top up, but I have had it up to clean and check the condition.
Just looking at the rag top I would say it would keep the cabin warmer than the hard
top as it is well padded and the rear window is glass with defroster. Lack of a hard top would not bother me at all.

Ken, sounds like it's worth a look.

I have not found that to be the case. The hardtop is well insulated, provides a quieter ride, and also has the defroster.

Is the title still clear, no damaged, salvage, rebuilt, or etc.? If that is good, see what is on carfax. If you plan to keep it a long time, this would not matter if the repair is good.

Excellent advice. If repaired properly you can benefit greatly from a much lower price.

                    It has a "rebuilt" title.

This will hurt resale, but if the repair is good and you are getting a good price, and want to keep the car, who cares.

If it is not local that you can see it, I would wait. Another will come up

Yes, I agree: wait. When I was young, I wanted a Corvette, but there was NO WAY I could ever afford one, not even used. But I was young and impatient. So I saw a car that was "repaired" and bought it--it was a nightmare--only to find out later when I tried desperately to sell it that the so-called repair was the welding of a second Corvette front onto the back of another one. I had to junk it and lost a lot of money (for me) at the time.
