  • Geico Gecko Drives A Retrobird

The Gecko is often seen driving a vintage Jaguar convertible in the commercials. Turns out he sometimes has the good taste to drive a Torch Red Retrobird. This cool bobble head very clearly commemorates the moment.

Who knew? I certainly didn't, until I ran upon this on eBay back before the holidays. I've been meaning to post about it, but I've never gotten around to it.

It always amazes me that we can still find an unknown collectible this many years after the car came out. It is made of polyresin and measures about 4 inches long and sits about 4 inches high. It was listed as "rare" (but what isn't on eBay?). I have not seen another one listed in the 3 months since I got it, so I'm guessing there aren't a ton of them floating around.

7-spoke wheels and a custom hood scoop - good catch Paul. The mental image of the Gecko's bulbous head protruding thru a sun-roof made me think of the "Seinfeld" episode where a boyfriend's insult made Elaine feel self-conscious about the size of her "giant candy-apple head."

Julia Louis-Dreyfuss is always hilarious. Guess that is why she is the only comedienne to have an Best Actress Emmy for three different characters.

Some folks are quickly parted from their money. Some even have more dollars than cents.
