  • Wyrdbird Evolution - Tail Lights

Been focusing a lot on Wyrdbird's rear end lately, what with fitting the trunk rack and rewiring the skirt lights, and I finally got tired of looking at the naked tail lights. I've left them naked because he's got a pair of fins in his future, but they are taking a lot longer than expected.

So, as a temporary relief for my sense of aesthetics I've given him smooth black top/chrome face taillight bezels. Although I like them a lot, I'm hoping they won't be on too long before they are replaced by the fins.

Alex I see you've found new place for grill badges. I gave my TBN badge to a TBN friend and put in its place a colorful rare Jaguar winner at Le Mans badge from England. Being the proud owner of your first custom tail light bezels which sport no chrome which I prefer. I take it that you used the popular all chrome commercial units as your base model. And I see Phil offers your creations on his site...nice job! Off this morning to the Ford garage to get the check engine light that came on after the dreaded wrench. Always something right? And Alex I see you refer to your ride as a HE!

Cristine had a Medium Steel Blue 2005, which she referred to as her "pretty, pretty car". Sitting next to her in the garage, Wyrdbird looked really aggressive, so it became a "he"

And another tail light bezel treatment idea came to me today, so I tried it out.
I now have so many tail light bezel variations, I wish I had more Thunderbirds.
(Wyrdbird is wearing a pair with black top, chrome face and crossbar, but I'm really tempted to change them out for the new ones).

Yes, the bumper's loose; It's on and off whilst I pursue another project.

Sandy I've got the 'original' that Alex made. Mine came with the cross bar with a bird emblem which I removed. I then had them repainted and love the results. They are not cheap but quality built. Mr. Ed!

One of the best mods I've seen yet. Not an easy make when you consider all the curves and subtle bends in the lens. Not perfect round but barely oval and not flat.
