Re: Door Open "Alert" !
Why would want to disconnect it? It only sounds if your key is in the ignition when you get out of the car. I believe all cars do this now. They are Here. Scotty, beam me up!IT'S 5 O'CLOCK SOMEWHERE

Re: Door Open "Alert" !
I am happy to have the 'chime'.
Last year I had the top down on a sunny day and locked the keys in the car.
Stupid!
Cost me a $150 to have a locksmith come out.
Now, I listen for the alarm and take my keys out.

Re: Door Open "Alert" !
I'm sorry guys but, my question is how to disarm the "door open' alert.
The key concern and the seat belt I can live with but NOT every time I open the door.
Is there a way to silence just that part ????

Are you saying that the chime sounds with the key out the ignition? That should not be happening.Originally posted by gcordone View PostI'm sorry guys but, my question is how to disarm the "door open' alert.

Re: Door Open "Alert" !
Thanks GoBird for the quick reply but it does it whether the engine is running or not.
In other words I should be able to get out of the car, for example, to get the mail, and not have that constant"chime" going off.

Thanks 007 Cruiser, but with the key in the ignition, with or without the engine running.Originally posted by 007Cruiser View PostAre you saying that the chime sounds with the key out the ignition? That should not be happening.
Most cars will allow you to open the door while idling and have no alert go off.
With the engine off, I can live with for safety's sake.

Re: Door Open "Alert" !
I don't know if this will work, but what the heck. The 2003 owner's manual outlines a way to deactivate the seat belt chime. Perhaps it turns off all the chimes. Let us know the result.
Deactivating/activating the BeltMinder feature
Read steps 1 - 9 thoroughly before proceeding with the deactivation/activation programming procedure.
The BeltMinder feature can be deactivated/activated by performing the following procedure:
Before following the procedure, make sure that:
• The parking brake is set.
• The gearshift is in P (Park) (automatic transmission) or the neutral position (manual transmission).
• The ignition switch is in the OFF position.
• All vehicle doors are closed.
• The driver’s safety belt is unbuckled.
• The parklamps are in OFF position.
1. Turn the ignition switch to the RUN (or ON) position. (DO NOT START THE ENGINE.)
2. Wait until the safety belt warning light turns off. (Approximately 1–2 minutes.)
• Steps 3–5 must be completed within 60 seconds or the procedure will have to be repeated.
3. Buckle then unbuckle the safety belt three times, ending with the safety belt unbuckled. This can be done before or during BeltMinder warning activation.
To reduce the risk of injury, do not deactivate/activate the Belt Minder feature while driving the vehicle.
4. Turn on the parklamps, turn off the parklamps.
5. Buckle then unbuckle the safety belt three times, ending with the safety belt unbuckled.
• After step 5 the safety belt warning light will be turned on for three seconds.
6. Within seven seconds of the safety belt warning light turning off, buckle then unbuckle the safety belt.
• This will disable BeltMinder if it is currently enabled, or enable BeltMinder if it is currently disabled.
7. Confirmation of disabling BeltMinder is provided by the safety belt warning light flashing four times per second for three seconds.
8. Confirmation of enabling BeltMinder is provided by:
• The safety belt warning light flashing four times per second for three seconds.
• Followed by three seconds with the safety belt warning light off.
• Once again, the safety belt warning light will flash four times per
second for three seconds.
9. After receiving confirmation, the deactivation/activation procedure is complete.

Thanks Gene,
I think they left out the step where you drink three beers while standing on your head. LOL!
Might be easier to live with the 'chime' than trying to follow that procedure.
