Those look good with the right color car. The yellow clashes with some colors.

          Re: Show me your Whitewalls

We all have different tastes. I think that the look I personally am going for is the early to mid 60's look. In that era I guess WW's were 1/2 to 3/4 inches wide. All of them showed black between the rim and the WW. I seem to remember that the only way that Coker and DBack would make a tire is with the WW smack against the rim (not showing any black). Is my memory correct? If Vogue still made the WW on TBears car, I would probably use that one.

Not sure about Coker, but Diamond Back will place the WW away from the rim if you request that.

My WW I had made at Black Diamond as I wanted a Michelin Tire and wanted a small break between the ww and rim like THEY USE TO BE NOT ALL WHITE > I have bought several sets over the years for different vehicles and been very happy with Zero Problems !

Talked to Diamond Back this morning. They tell me that the tires that Sandy ordered in 2012 for his Cashmere (1/2 inch off rim, 1 1/4 WW) are no longer available due to DOT changes. The best that they can do for me is 1 inch off rim with a 1 1/4 inch WW. Incredible ( to me at least ) is the fact that they do not have a picture of this tire configuration to show me. Just checking: other than DB, is there another manufacturer that might be more helpful in helping me to make a decision on this?

They still make them but can only sell them for cars older than 1976. So if you want them you'll need to lie about what car is going to use them. They must comply with USDOT regulations. From page 39 of their catalog:

The Tread Act of 2000 requires tire manufacturers to permanently mold certain information on both tire sidewalls. This information is the same on both sidewalls. Because of our process, this information is removed from one sidewall only. This information includes tire size, maximum pressure recommendations, size, brand, the word “radial” and the manufacturers DOT number.

The National Highway & Safety Administration (NHTSA) has allowed us to continue to produce tires for vehicles built prior to 1976. That Federal standard is FMVSS109. All tires for vehicles manufactured in or after 1976 must comply with standard FMVSS139, which requires different labeling. This standard is more stringent on performance testing; meaning tires are subjected to higher speeds to achieve certification. Ironically, Diamond Back, because of its process,
uses only tires that are certified to the higher performance standards of FMVSS139. The majority of tires sold by the competition cannot make this claim. If their product description specifies “for pre 1976 vehicles”, those tires are labeled and tested under the less strenuous standards of FMVSS109. Remember, all tires that Diamond Back uses have been certified under the new, more stringent performance and endurance standards. *FMVSS139 (Tread Act of 2000). Our finished products have been submitted and passed 100% for endurance and speed testing for the latest standard.

Unfortunately, we can not knowingly accept orders for vehicles built after 1976. Why? It’s a labeling issue. Please specify the intended vehicle fitment, including year manufactured, make and model when ordering.

I have a set of Vogue Custom Built radials mounted on original Dayton wire wheels if you are looking for something like that, I'm only 1/2 hour away!

Thanks. I get it. I need to buy a pre 1976 car with 17 inch wheels. Anyone have any idea which car or cars that I need to be looking for? Thanks Earl
