    I agree with you Jim. But, I have a bias because when I was 13 or 14 my Uncle Elmer picked me up in his brand new '56 Lincoln Premier Fiesta Red and Cream 2 Dr. HT. and drove me to Arlington Hts. from Chicago, IL. I think it may have been the first brand new car I had ever been in! And Wow, it was like being on Aladdin's magic carpet. Silent as a tomb and to this day, every time I see one at an auction I remember that drive!

      When I was twelve years old my Uncle had a 57 Crown Imperial exactly like this one. I felt like a rich kid in that car, as I'm not sure I had ever been in anything other than a Ford, Plymouth or Chevrolet up until then, maybe an older Buick or Oldsmobile.

            Our family doctor had one. His daughter was in my grade school class. He drove it cross country and came to school with a slide show. Some years later his plane disappeared as he was flying to the Bahamas. He was never found.

              Same here.

              The 57 tail fins drowned out the rest of the car.

              In 57, three of us "guys" went to a local lake with three girls. One girl's brother loaned her/us his new 57 Lincoln white 2dr hardtop.

              At age 15, I was too young to drive. My two friends were 17. Danny drove to the lake like a 100 year old senior citizen. Terrible driver. Kenny drove the car home like he was in a NASCAR race. Drove out of the gravel parking lot full throttle and hit the tarmac with a tire burning "screech".

              Good times.

                          Well, the Vic is a sedan not a hardtop and weights 1,400 pounds less. Other than that I guess they are similar.

                            If you can honestly say a 1955 or 1956 Crown Vic looks like that Imperial you have a
                            problem. If you could afford it the car to own in 1957 was the Caddy Eldorado Biarritz
                            or Broughham. Somebody had it right that Imperial belonged in a George Jetson Cartoon.

                              The 1955 and 1955 Crown Victorias are two door hardtops with a crown at the "B" post, no one ever referred to them as sedans. There is no frame around the front door glass.

                                Technically they were referred to as hardtop coupes. To me, back in the day, when we said hardtop it that meant to put the passenger and rear seat windows down with no "B" pillar between them. You refer to them as a hardtop and I'll refer to them as a Coupe that looks like a Sedan. Still doesn't make it look like an Imperial.
