Re: 007 at Mecum Auction
Selling a retro at an auction won't make the owner anything more than if you sold it yourself on eBay or via a classified ad. These large auctions take 15-20% of the sales price as a selling fee.Originally posted by Rondor View PostOnly a VERY small percentage of retro's sell at these auctions. Be nice if there was a way to track general sales by dealers and individuals. I would guess most are sold direct by owners.

That's if you are there. They get 12% from phone and internet bidders. The 10% is often negotiated down some on high dollar cars if they are getting close to reserve. Seen it happen many times.Originally posted by 007Cruiser View PostMecum gets 10% on both ends.

Re: 007 at Mecum Auction
The bid prices those 2 retros fetched were not bad. Not sure where you think the "market value" is.Originally posted by EllisonCal View PostIf there was an auction where enough retro Thunderbird lovers were in attendance, the prices would be higher and probably more representative of the market value. Right now, it just depends on the bidders there and how they feel about our beloved cars.

Re: 007 at Mecum Auction
I watched a fair portion on Friday and in my opinion, the bidding in general was very low. A good number of cars did not get close enough to lift the reserve and did not sell.
The retros seemed to attract more interest than a lot of others.
IMO, the prices were average for the retros. (One did not meet reserve)2004 Merlot Premium. 2013 Honda CRV, 2019 LTV Unity.

Greg in my neck of Ohio car dealers are still asking 15-16k but lots available in the 11-12 range including '04s and '05s. Prices seem low. Maybe spring sun shine will drive prices up.Bill Coates-Canfield, Ohio

Re: 007 at Mecum Auction
$15-16 sound pretty reasonable. I guess there is a fair amount of variance based on mileage and condition as these are now older used cars.Originally posted by wcoates View PostGreg in my neck of Ohio car dealers are still asking 15-16k but lots available in the 11-12 range including '04s and '05s.
