Pennington's Drive In on South Peoria in Tulsa, OK. It was a hang-out for both WRHS and Central HS kids. My steady was a Central HS girl while I was a WRHS boy.

It is approximately 5 miles from the civil war monument in the square in Youngstown, Ohio to what was then the Manner's Big Boy (with speakers and girls on skates) at the corner of SRs 7 and 224 or 1/2 mile down to the A & W drive in. DROVE that continuously until a spot opened at one of the drive ins. Tried picking up girls in the next car, or pealed rubber or did some serious light to light racing. Ah man tell me that was over 50 years ago.!!!!!!

I hired Dick Biondi to host our 35th class reunion in Lansing Illinois in 1995. He was in his 70's but was still on the air spinning oldies. We went thru our teens listening to him and to have him back 35 years later was great. He cost $2,000 for the evening but was well worth it, he really got everyone involved and onto the dance floor.

It looks like we went to different schools together, I would have liked to have heard Dick do a reunion show.

Your 35th reunion in 1995? Guess I had better respect my elders.

Both of us, I was right behind in 1961.

To. school (college) and work. Fortunately they were close. Weekends were trips to Gino's and Amechesdrive inns with my girlfriend/future wife. These were the namesakes of Baltimore Colts players Gino Marchetti and Alan Ameche.I lived about 2O smiles from my girlfriend when I got my first car since my family had just moved from Baltimore. Lots of time to think and contemplate during those long commutes.

In NJ, in the Sixties, the drinking age was 21. Across the border in NY about 6 miles away it was 18. So we piled in the 58 Chevy and went "upstate". Of course we had fake ID because we weren't 18 yet either.

By mid 60's Orlando had 3 Steak and Shake and all had car hops. It was like a rotating car show and they were all about 5-6 miles apart. You could burn a tank of gas in one night.. Pig and whistle was gone by then and so was the atmosphere. New and improved was not better.

                            Absolutely!

Head north on the Palisades Interstate Parkway to the Orangeburg Hotel bar in NY State. Drink, and drive back home in my 57 Olds convert, top down, with two drunk buddies sleeping.

Pure luck that we got home safe and without a DWI ticket.

Then, we found a few places in Union City, NJ, that would serve underage patrons.

Drove to New Hampshire a lot on Sundays to buy beer.

Couldn't buy alcohol in Massachusetts then on Sundays and we never stocked up enough the night before!

Funny thing I guess. I never had a desire to consume either beer or liquor, it just never appealed to me. I may have a glass of red wine with a holiday meal but that's about the extent.
