    Re: Off My Rocker

Thanks for the correction Harry. I reduced the price on the website but mistakenly quoted the previous price here.

Thanks also for the FedEx price quote ... quite reasonable considering the dimensions. USPS has a hefty surcharge for light but large parcels.

Finding a box that size isn't so easy. You could create one by piecing together smaller boxes. Also, long, narrow boxes are sometimes bent in transit, which could damage the rocker panel inside.

I checked the availability on 'car-part.com.' They show three, but only one has a price posted ... $ 125 plus shipping. That's certainly a good price, depending on what they charge for shipping. My experience with salvage yards is mixed, and dealing with them can be frustrating. Their description of condition is very subjective. Sometimes you get what you're expecting, sometimes you don't.

With Phil, you know you're getting a quality part to start with which is important as you're still going to take it to a body shop to have it repainted. If you're going to spend the money to do it, at least you'll have a better outcome than some hit or miss part out of a junkyard.

That rocker panel is for a 2013 - 2016 Ford Escape per the narrative.

If I had to replace rockers I would go the route that Gobird did with his aftermatket ground effects rocker replacements . I like the look
He has an entire thread. Perhaps he can bring the thread to the top.

I believe that Gary is out of business. I wanted to buy a pair of fender extenders from him but he was only able to send me a pattern and I made them myself. He said that when he moved to Maryland the state taxed him out of business.

                        Al,

I GUARANTEE you the TBN folks will solve your problem for you. On the recent Thunder in the Ozarks event, I was a total stranger. No one knew me from Adam. On the second day there, someone pointed out that I was missing my right/front wheel trim ring (the white aluminum ring with Ford printed on it). Soon, a small crowd was gathered, and we all agreed: they are impossible to find. Then, sent from heaven, Ron, MY NEW BEST FRIEND, speaks up and says that he has one and that all he needs is my address.

Soon after arriving home, the ring arrived. I glued (J-B Weld) it on, and no one is the wiser.

So, give the TBN crowd time to look into your problem. And keep your $479 towards a Borla Exhaust. (I am looking for a used one, as $900 for a new one is too steep for my pension.)

Why not get a can of spray paint the correct body color and spray it while it's on the car? Even if you got paint runs in the finish it would have to be less noticeable than being the wrong color.

A perfect paint match is not an easy task. And with today's metalacs it is nearly impossible, especially if the paint is several years old. Even same color with different batches can look different. A rocker panel will likely be unnoticed tho.
