    Re: Parking lot problems

Let's face it, some people are just plain and simple a55holes. It's a cowardly thing to mess up someone else's property for no reason other than petty jealousy or just for kicks. Accidents happen, but deliberate acts of vandalism just plain suck.

This post says it all these parking lot events for the most part are pure acts of vandalism. My first post was on the sarcastic side as your asking for trouble when you try to isolate your car.
There it sits all alone in the back lot stands out like a sore thumb perfect target for the above mentioned a55holes.

        Same here

I find the largest one I can, usually on the end, and that's where I drop anchor.

            Re: Parking lot problems

In an effort to preserve my sides I found a parallel parking spot on the far edge of a lot. Returning I discovered my bumper had been scrapped by someone backing in or pulling out behind me.

Not so bad as when the builder of the garage built to protect my car drop the heavy double door on its nose.

              Re: Parking lot problems

I've stopped parking altogether - I just bring the car in the store with me. Now, granted, this does seem to tick off some of the other customers, but generally with the wider aisles in the mall, I don't really see a problem. The other up-side is that if I'm listening to a program on the radio when I get to the store, I don't have to miss the rest of the show - the radio and the car come with me.

The almost best defense is an handicap placard .

Yes and most retro owners could qualify by a mental issue " nuts " or what ever you want to call it.

When I bought my car 5 years ago the paint was near perfect..not anymore. I do all the things previously mentioned, plus do my retro shopping very early before the lots fill up. Now someone has keyed my hood not bad but I notice. Aging cars and aging people..

After about 1985, I had my VW van keyed at Worlds Of Fun Kansas City.
I parked at the worst possible place with the front of the Van next to a major sidewalk. The crowd could just walk by and use the key they still had in their hand and not even stop.

The van was new and had a nice metallic paint job with clear coat.

Regardless what I'm driving, I try to park on the far right space on the end. I'm assuming the car that parks on my left has a driver only with no passenger egress. Fat assumption, but it seems to work most of the time.

A humorous parking lot story in which there was no damage done: At work I always parked my car way out by itself at the far corner of the lot. One day I was leaving and the on-site security had the car surrounded with their cars and trucks and a ring of officers with their weapons drawn. Turned out they were using the car for a hostage situation training exercise. As I walked up to the car they started laughing when I said, "I'd better not find any bullet holes."

I shake my head in amazement to find some folks lacking in respect for others. I would never think of damaging the property of others and can't imagine what drives others to do so. Jealousy, envy, lack of character, and the list goes on. It is the mindset of small people with a lack of self respect. Not to my Tbird but to my new Pilot, I find a severe case of bumper rub while parked in a mall parking lot. It is clear to me the offender had to know and yet did so without acknowledgement.

Many New Yorkers have one of these to protect the rear bumper when parking. Not attractive but effective.
