      Re: Fingerprints...AAAUUURRRUUUGGGHHH!!!

I used to be one of those fanatics about prints on the door. However, after exchanging the little black door lock tops for large, chrome retro tops on the locks - - - problem solved. What a relief!

Like so many others, I've mastered the flip down method of closing the trunk by grasping the inside handle & withdrawing my hand FAST. No scraped fingers yet.

Speaking of prints on the paint, in a car show a couple of weeks ago, we had SEVERAL lookers handling the cars an inordinate number of times despite signs all over asking everyone to look, but not touch. What can't they understand about that? The violations were widespread including some folks who actually got INSIDE the vehicle. I was on the verge of apoplexy by the end of the show. One exhibitor had a sign which brought smiles but it did not work either - - - NO TOUCHING, I am not that kind of car.

        Re: Fingerprints...AAAUUURRRUUUGGGHHH!!!

I am that compulsive and my wife is yelling at me all the time about it. But it's mine!!!, well you know what I mean.

But I now know that the rubber window strip on the door is the only place to put the fingers. And I don't brake the lock knobs. Try it, you'll like it!!

For the trunk I close it with the inside latch loop. As for the doors, I use the inside of the door handle. The prints cannot be seen. If you thnk Mountain Shadow Grey is bad try Evening Black!

              Re: Fingerprints...AAAUUURRRUUUGGGHHH!!!

Well, I tried using the trunk latch loop as opposed to using my two fingers on the body of the bird emblem to close the trunk. I felt like I was closing the tailgate on a pickup truck. Not a smooth move..No class. IMHO.

I practised the deck lid move in the garage til I got it down to a smooth science. Try humming your favorite tune and work it into the rhythm.

Well, at least I'm a little more at ease with my obsessive compulsive disorder now. I've finally found a family (albeit online) who will accept me for who I am.

This stuff drives me crazy. Ya I know, we are all pretty neurotic when it comes to our car but holy poops, let's not go overboard. I love my car, drive it 365 days a year, wash it a couple of times a week and get everything out of it that it has to give. Let's enjoy more and obsess less. No one, nope, not one person has ever pointed out to me that a fingerprint was on the door. They do, however, all give kudos and thumbs on the Bird in general.

PS - shhhhh, don't tell anyone but I think I have about 32 and 1/2 pine needles on drivers side floor.

For the door, I use two fingers between the door panel & the glass & pray I don't peel my finger nail back.

For the trunk, I use the loop from the trunk lock. I always seem to be 'slamming' my trunk lid shut though....

I've cut up a few terrycloth towels into small squares (about 6x6) and carry one in my pocket whenever I go out in the 'bird. When I get out I just wipe down the door or trunk lid after I close it.

My wife is convinced I've lost it....:worried

As for me...I'm loving every minute of it!
