Time to start thinking of a fall road trip.

Well it’s that time of year, looking for a road trip to see fall colours in October. My thoughts are leaning towards the Tennessee Great Smoky Mountains, Gettysburg or Nashville. Such a tough decision

How about Gettysburg and the Skyline Drive in Virginia with a stop at Luray Caverns.

Thanks Gene, I’m googling it now to checkout that route. It’s looking like I might be able to get to Gettysburg and the Great Smoky Mountains in the same trip.

02-T-Bird The first thing that came to my head was the many colors of the Maple Leaf up and around Kingston along 401. I am sure you know better. Would love to hear about your trip, see pics if possible.

If I were considering a drive from your neighborhood, I would consider the following

Sault Ste Marie to Cleveland, Oh
(500 miles - Rock & Roll Hall of Fame)
then to
Mill Run, Pa
(200 miles -Frank Lloyd Wright house at Fallingwater)
then to
Hershey, Pa
(200 miles - CHOCOLATE!!!)
then to
Gettysburg, Pa
(50 miles - National Military Park
- check into which major areas are closed for renovations,
and look into a horseback tour of the battlefield)
then
You're on your own.


However, depending if your return route takes you through some part of West Virginia...
Weston, WV - Trans Allegheny Lunatic Asylum is fascinating. If you are really brave, take a night tour.
Pt Pleasant, WV - if you have seen the movie "The Mothman Prophecies" this may be an interesting stop.

I don’t think your visit to the asylum did you much good. Perhaps you should have stayed longer.
