Re: Optimal Road Trips Across Every State

Have any of you passed either one of these signs?

My guess is you would not see many motorcycles ( going the distance anyways ) with a 6 gallon tank and 42 mpg 410km would be a real push.

Gas yes, but you have to trust your vehicle.

Gas I can figure out. Tbird limp mode would not be good here.

Thanks, Jerry, I guess that was one of the highlights of the trip for us. It was amazing how the sunlight and shadows on the canyon walls changed the rock colors from when we entered the canyon to when we left a few hours later. A great trip with wonderful friends !!!

We did these on a Gold Wing. Your sign on Hwy 6 is the same as Hwy 50. LONG stretches of nothing.

Haven't seen either of those signs, but I have lived in northern Arizona where it was 130+ miles to the nearest full line grocery store at the time.

Some of us have been together on the road at night when we were on flat enough ground to see 360 degrees for several miles and not see a light of any kind other than our car's headlights.

Also, you could see the stars and the Milky Way which I can never see in town.

I could do 162 with either of my last two bikes, but 410km would be out of the question.

While Cape May is nice, Ocean City never turned me on. To my mind you haven't lived unti you cruised the New Jersey Turnpike at night past all the refineries, burning off the excess gases from the towers. Sights and smells on both sides of the road.

I agree, Art. I always remember the Ocean City of my youth (yes, I can remember that long ago). The place was a dump with a narrow beach and dry to boot.

Long Beach Island (Shipbottom) NJ, was one of my favorites back about 40 years ago.

Thanks for that Gene. Maybe I'll get back there some day.
