  • 2002 to 2005 Color Stats

I'm posting links to the final color stats that Quickdraw produced last year and were published in Philip's Powersportscar 2007 newsletter.

These only cover body, hardtop and interior colors. There is NO breakdown for wheel style or transmission shifter style in these files.

I also have links to them on my website on the color pages for each year.

So then these numbers include a roll-up of Deluxe & Premium trim levels, correct?

deluxe and premium are mixed together if that's what you mean, Dino.

I still have the old stats with the wheel & tranny breakdown and the difference in those & the final counts that quickdraw has is only about 1 or 2 per option but I do not have the updated counts so to avoid confusion with what quickdraw has, I don't post the old ones and have posted the limited stats that are part of the final counts. Confused some more?

Yes, that is what I meant. I have an old listing that I think Harry sent me back in '03 that has the breakdown in color/HT/accent plus the 120A and 130A trim levels.
Just for giggles, I added up the number of blue/blue HT/partial accent. It shows 15 deluxe and 826 premium for a total of 841. You show 852, any idea on why there is a difference?

Re: 2002 to 2005 Color Stats

The difference is that the total from 2003 was short - missing data.(actually all the years were "short").
The rest of my confusing explanation above comes from data that was finally verified in 2006.

Every year that the cars were produced, we were seeing two different production numbers - not sure of the source for the lower count (it was the "official"?" count back then} but the vin# data matches the higher count that quickdraw was seeing every year. It wasn't until 06 that he was finally able to verify the higher production count.

Jim Youngs noticed the discrepency back in 03 when the 007s had been built. They were giving him the figure 694 built but he knew that all 700 had been built. He couldn't get any interest up in any dept that would know why the difference so dropped pursuing the discrepency. Times were tough back in 2003 with all the management changes, and movement from departments, etc... Bottom line is that quickdraw has the final counts and his are much more accurate than the initial counts we were given.

2002 Torch Red. This past weekend at the Ottawa All Ford Show, there were two 'torch red' Birds sitting side by side. There was a very distinctive variation in the shade of red on the two cars. One being a darker shade of red than the other. More like a 'lipstick' red if you wish. Has anyone seen this on other 2002 Birds in Torch red. Both cars were supposed to be the original 'factory paint'.

Martin, did you happen to check the vin#s for the two cars?

A definite difference was noted in the 02 blues back in 2002 when we had some together in the summer of 02 - one had been a very early car and more "green" than the later 02 blues. We were told by a wixom painter that Ford changed paint types back in late June 2001. There will be slight differences in shade just from batch to batch but most batch differences will be hard to tell unless body panels are interchanged so the colors are actually side by side.

Dot: Will try to get the VIN's for both cars and pass your info on to them as well. Thanks,

ps. The Ottawa event went over real well. Too bad for the rain but we persaveered. TBN events are now an International sensation.

Confused? Me? Well, maybe a little. Numbers I got from Quickdraw about a year ago stated my '04 LIB/LIB ht/sand was one of 184, but your figures earlier in this thread state mine is one of 174. Employee pilfering? Ten taken out for a test-drive around the Wixom lot & somebody forget to return 'em? In truth, I find the numbers interesting, but I'm not obsessing over whether mine is 1 of only 2 built or 1 of 5936; just pointing this difference out to you in case you or others are trying to tighten up the stats. Is the total built still 68,098? I found that number on The Porthole Authority, owned & operated by you, I suppose, or someone just like you. I'm Will.

I got them direct from quickdraw. I haven't touched them since he gave them to me. It's also possible that he mistyped at the time he gave you his figure. You might ask him again.

double checked - it appears he included the light ice blue with sand interior and no top in the figure he gave you.
