Harry, do you know how many were shipped out of the country?
What country? From memory I know Mexico only got 503, the rest would have gone to Canada. Cars purchased here and shipped overseas would count as a sale in the state purchased.
Re: Most 02-05 Thunderbirds by State and Population
I knew that most per capita thing sounded out of character for ultra conservative Oklahoma. Harry just confirmed something that I thought I remembered from back in the day:
<!-- / icon and title --><!-- message -->Of the 2026 sold in Oklahoma 1,192 went to "The Hertz Corporation" and 54 more went to "Legacy F-M/Hertz".
That only leaves 780 going to private owners. That's an average of just over 10 per county if they were evenly distributed throughout the state. Of course, since more than half of the state's population lives in the OKC and Tulsa metropolitan areas, you can bet the vast majority would have been found there.
I think Hertz titled a lot of their cars in Oklahoma because of our favorable tax situation verses states such as California, Arizona and Florida. Not sure about corporate sales, but private sales in Oklahoma are charged excise tax on new vehicles that is less than half what sales tax is in most states.
21 years, 174K miles, 48 States X 2 & DC, 9 Canadian provinces, 8 European countries, 3 Caribbean Islands, 3 Hawaiian Islands, 100+ National Park locations, 150+ T-bird events, 190+ retrobird diecasts/models, 13 TOTM pics & some very special friends...THANKS TBN !

Cool data - Thanks Harry!! - I got a NM from CA :-) And my DSB is one of the 683 in CT. and is still there. I thought I've seen most of the ones in CT - not even close - wonder where they are hiding
Re: Most 02-05 Thunderbirds by State and Population
Maybe this data proves that we have too many people in California! Note that although the most T-birds were sold in California--the overwhelming number of people meant that the people per car is high. The state is big geographically, too--hardly see other T-birds on the road.
