I leave it on if its really hot and I'm not moving very fast. As far as the cycle, most a/c units now a days and I think this one included, go on and off in a cycle anyway....no matter what you have the temp set at.

I tried just leaving it on auto 70 degrees all the time hot or cold out but the sensors blew all the cold air onto the windshield and fogged it. I now have it set on air all the time with it blowing out the dash vents and never mess with it,

Here in Lincoln, NE, it's not unusual for the temp to top 100 degrees in July and August. Top down, AC on... and sometimes, AC/DC on too!

In Annapolis, Maryland; I always run it on "Auto" unless it is Spring or Fall and I just want a breeze through the car. I have noticed that on those really, really hot days (95+) there is condensation dripping out of the vents. I have always wondered if it was a good idea to run the AC when there is condensation dripping like that.

Here in the Henderson / Las Vegas area we run top down with the ac on all the time. If it wastes energy, at least its energy I paid for.

Actually Sam, you get colder air with it set on recirculate, even with the top down.

And Yes I run the a/c with the top down in the summer and with the heater on in the winter. My only regret is that my Goldwing doesn't have a heating and a/c unit.

When we take the bird out and it is hot, we do use the A/C and like Karyl, we use the heater when it is cool out and for those extra chilly days, DavidA put heated seats in the Bird!!

Hey, it's got heat, it's got AC. I use 'em! I bought this car because of its features; ABS, airbags, disc brakes, traction control etc. If I wanted to rough it I'd have bought an OLD classic. Instead I bought a NEW classic.

We don't have that many really HOT days up here in Pa. so if the top is down and it's Hot,Hot,Hot, the air goes on and the top stays down. Judge Judy thinks it's a waste too but then what does she know.

Okay now..........so who here runs their seat heaters AND the A/C at the same time, while the top is down, and accelerates excessively in an effort to waste as much energy as possible?
It's hard to soar with T-Birds when you drive amongst turkeys!

Re: A/C On with the top down?...never!...

I've never used the a/c with the top down...I think it's a waste of energy, and putting some unecessary wear on the a/c compressor running at full blast trying to cool the car's interior ( which of course never happens)...When's it's too hot, I leave the top on, and then I use the a/c. The top is a usefull accessory to keep the sun out, not only rain!...

                                Claude.

P.S: I've also had my windows dark tinted to help keep the heat out!...
