here is some information on the new owner.

who is Ron Pratte?
Secretive, for sure. The Chandler, Arizona, man who submitted the $5 million winning bid for Carroll Shelby’s Supersnake Cobra has consistently refused media interviews, including to our editors. But he certainly knows what he wants and has the means to get it via the red-hot housing market in the American Southwest - specifically Phoenix and Scottsdale. As stockjockey over at the underthecounter blog points out, Ron owns Pratte Development Company, Inc., “one of the nation’s largest wood framing and concrete foundation companies.” So he builds houses for a living. In one of the fastest-growing areas of the country.
And while many in the car collector hobby know of Pratte mostly from last year’s $4.1 million purchase of the Futurliner bus, he’s no newcomer to the Mustang and Shelby scenes: He also bought the first Shelby GT500 last year for nearly $650,000.
Wow! $600,000 plus the $60,000 Buyers commission. $660,000! Exactly Ten times what that '57 Tbird Retro-rod sold for yesterday. Dot, you were absolutely right, original Tbirds are the ones with the highest value. Don't mess with perfection. Ford builds 'em right! I love mine, don't you all love yours?

My father used to own p5fh100004 thunderbird. We were all just watching the auction and barrett jacksons careful choices of words used to describe the first "production" thunderbird. He found 00004 in 1972. If you just saw the auction, they showed all the documentation which was done pre 1972. Not having known otherwise, you would think that the earliest t-bird just sold. I wonder if the new owner knows of 00004. My father still has the old owners cards and serial number traceings of the 00004 car.
