Ron Pratt bought the #1 TBird. He also bought the 24 Jeff Gordon race car for $500,000. He is a private collector. I guess we will never see again the #1 TBird since Pratt collection is not open to the public.
Anyone familar with him, is he the same Pratt who owns Pratt/ Whitney aircraft engines?

Wow. Thanks for article on Pratte. He spent $5 million for the Cobra Supersnake two years ago.
I see that he is a housing developer.

He found 00004 in 1972. If you just saw the auction, they showed all the documentation which was done pre 1972. Not having known otherwise, you would think that the earliest t-bird just sold. I wonder if the new owner knows of 00004. My father still has the old owners cards and serial number traceings of the 00004 car.
Brendan: I saw your Dad's car a number of years ago at Macungie, Pa. car show, and the documentation from Ford. Also a great write up in "Thunderbird Illustrated". Do you know where the Bird is now ?

Hannah3, I don't know what last years sales were, but this year they went over 5 million and the two top sellers were Fords. The no.1 seller was a 1929 Ford 4-AT-E Tri-motor Airplane lot#1307, it sold for $1.210,000.00. Second highest was the 001Tbrd, at $660,000.00. Leroy

Do not know the numbers but Greg Jackson said while talking to the guys @ SpeedTV that this auction set several records (speeking of specific vehicel types) but I do not think he said it set an overall sales record.

Actually, it looks like it was a disaster. They did a total of around $50m which is less than half recent years. It was interesting to see how they only very rarely showed the total sales figures whereby in past years they wouls show this mumber every hour or so.
