You are so right about Merlot.

I had by black TBird repainted Merlot, and my gas mileage went up by 3 mpg, my 1/4 times decreased by 1 full second, and my top speed increased by who knows what.

Should have done this a long time ago. The savings in gas alone would have paid for the paint job.

Ha Ha love it. Personally I put one extra coat of wax highly buffed to help slip thru the air Plus its looks just naturally gravitates to the center of the universe so that helps some to. Or maybe the air molecules are so wowed it just separates and allows it to pass in wonder. I fully intend to have it in my will to be buried in mine. It might help when I get to the pearly gates.

Even a merlot won't help with that!

Hey now, Ya just never know. Can't hurt right. I might even let St Peter take it for a whirl. Hmm naa,
For real I Just hope it outlasts me and one of the kids takes it and treats it like I do. Back on target here, I've had cars that were certainly faster more goodies and all. But I've never had one that put such a smile on my face, or felt so good just pulling through the drive in or around town. You just don't seem them around here.

Mine's in a tight race for second on my all time hit list of cars.

Considering that I've owned a lot of interesting cars since 1960, that isn't bad at all.

I'll throw a rare post out on this.

I'm fairly satisfied, it's a great car and fun to drive. But for the money Ford did a poor job on overall quality.

I've had to replace the transmission and radio within the first 3 years (I have an 02).
I've upgraded the speakers, there should be an overall better sound system for a $40,000 car.
There is the paint issue with the hard top and the leaky windshield and gasket that cause all the COPS issues that Ford not only failed on design but failed on taking care of their 02' customers.
I spent over $700 to have one COP fixed last summer, now more are bad. Thanx to this forum I've just ordered more and will be replacing the rest myself.

That's a lot of issues for a $40,000 car with only 50,000 miles on it. Especially when a $10,000 junker (Saturn) runs for $120,000 miles with 1 repair (fuel pump).

I debate selling it as I wonder how much more $$$ this car will cost to maintain.

I also agree except for the audio system comment. My ears are already a victim of loud music, and I don't need to risk anymore damage.

My TBird's been fairly troublefree so far (low mileage), but should things start to get out of hand, a decision will have to be made.

Compounding the issue is that my Lincoln LS is technologically the same car.

We have over 76K on our Cashmere and other than the A/C problem on the way to Texas Thunder, fingers crossed, no problems. I'd be in the market for another if or when the time comes . . .

Had a guy offer me nearly $8,000 more than I paid for the car and the only thing I could tell him, "Would you sell your best friend?" Love my bird.

I've had a couple offers regarding my car, however selling it was never brought up.

I'm satisfied. I bought it for 15,5 so it was in my price range...a used Honda accord or this for the same? C'mon.

Cons: $2500 of repairs in 1st 30 days. Plus the lack of confidence in the vehicle that engenders.

Peeves (not quite Cons): buying the loose parts that had been lost over the years. And those huge doors are a pain in any parking lot.

Pros: Looks. V8. Convertible. American. As close to a luxury car as I'll ever get. Just saying FU to everyone who thought it was an impractical, expensive whim.

Well TBirdNoob Nobody said love didn't hurt. I have the same Merlot and Sand. I should replace the tires they have 60k on them but they still have tread. I just had to fix something in the AC, some sort of solenoid switch and both front ABS sensors. Naturally I was bragging about the fact I have not done anything necessary yet. Dummy. Anyway no matter Big long doors took some getting used to. Long doors short leg room for me and my hair brushes the top. I've never given a thought to getting rid of it. My other cars lasted a week or two before the thrill was gone. I have a prius and a suburban that I drive a lot more but prius is one strange critter. The Suburban is big and comfortable but neither can hold a candle to the grin effect of the TBird. Good choice!! treat it right it will love you back.

I have wanted a roadster T Bird since I discovered the first two seaters. I could never afford them then, and now they are still out of my reach. These have todays technology, the classic styling and I would never sell it. It took me 53 years of wanting until I got this one.
