You can see the voting totals of the TOTM contest before you vote. You just click on the link that says "view results" or something like that. After you vote, the totals show up every time you open the thread.

Well, it sounds like we were seeing something we weren't supposed to be seeing (prior to our vote)...I for one am glad it's going back to not seeing the totals until I've voted.

Guess if I made my choices based on what others are doing, I'd own a Honda or Toyota.

Last month was close all the way till the end, this month has been a run away from day one - With 3 days left, this month has only 12 less total votes than all of last month. So, I'm not sure that folks seeing it before they vote affects the # of members voting by much. Does it affect their vote - maybe, but from what I've seen over the years most of the folks on this site are independent minded enough to make their own feelings known without voting solely based on what the crowd is doing.

IMHO, most of the time the best picture wins - sometimes by a little, sometimes by a lot - but, 100% of the time, it is more fun to watch the voting than it is to not see it till it's over.

My simple take on this is: If you don't want to see the trend of the voting before you vote.....Don't look and just vote. How much will power does that take?

Well you can look at the data (to date) two ways ...

What is obvious is the vast majority are picking the second option. And from post 15, it sounds like that's what Spence thought was happening (and will next month).

The way it is done now is what the members wanted and it will stay that way.

I vote first, and then look at the vote totals.

That approach seems to me to be the most fair to the contestants who took the time and effort to submit their photos.

My vote is usually so early in the process that maybe 2 or 3 have voted ahead of me. However, that being said, I'm still glad it's going back to vote now/view later.

It will be changed for next month and the results won't show until you vote.
