The round, smoothedged badge could have a black border about 3/8 in wide which would separate it from the chrome grill. Then any colors, including silver and blue would show up nicely. There shouldn't be too much writing as it will be lost. If the black border is 1/2 in wide, the words Thunderbird Nest .Com could be engraved in the border. As for size, lets look at the size of an old silver dollar. You all have one stuck away some where. Hold it up against the grill and decide if it should be larger, smaller or "its just right"!

RTBRD etal: Personally, I still favor a plain replica of our hub cap with the (possibly painted) Bird on it.
No larger than 2" diameter. It's simple and plain, it relates to birds of all colors, It blends in with the grille almost invisible, and it would look nice on our collections as well.
A simple screw stud on the back with a large washer type affair and nut to mount it, for the back
I realize we will never please everyone, therefore I think getting back to basics would do it.
Happy Holidays to all

Whatever we design, remember it has to be kept small. Too much lettering will crowd the badge. KarylP is working on one that is of an open design. I think you'll like it when she's finished. The casters will have a fit developing the mold, but I'm sure they could do something of this sort. I don't expect her to post her's until after Christmas.
PS...I appreciate all the participation in the brainstorming session. Keep up the good work. Someone will come up with something that will knock our socks off. Just wait and see.Last edited by JerryP; Dec 24, 2003, 10:21 AM.2002 Inspiration Yellow

JerryP what KarylP is working on, will it only knock our socks off or maybe a little more?!
Is Jeff Poole's bird too close to Ford's so we can avoid copyrights?
I thought this was going to be a 6" medallion on the grill dead center
Couldn't we just get the wheel centers and mount them? The work is all done then and we just get them engraved with THUNDERBIRDNEST.COM in turquoise!!
Guess I stayed up tooooo late last night thinking about this while wrapping presents

Trying to get ThunderbirdNest.com on anything small is going to be tough....trust me on this one. Using just TBN could work in two ways, first people would as " What is TBN?" Then you can explain to them, opens it up for conversation which can lead to other things. Second, with the wearing of the TBN logo with ThunderBirdNest.com on clothing and accessories, it will be quickly known what TBN stands for.
As far as copyrights go, you do have to be careful, you need to adjust the bird so that it is not an exact copy of it. Three tail feathers, 8 tailfeathers, wings curved a bit more, anything that changes it.
Just my opinion........

i think somewhere i also said we need to just get the horn centers and put them on an oval then we can used raised letters on the oval.
what could ford do to us?let them try.........and if we make them for our own use and not for profit........do you think they would provide us with badges? yeah sure.........king of the one liners and prince of the messy garage.

Here is my biggest reservation with the grill medallion. I really try to not be very anal about my car, but this will drive me bonkers...........how can the medallion be flush-mounted in the middle of the grill,
when the grill has an angled (pointed) center?
I don't see that happening - which means it will have to be mounted slightly off center, or stick out from the surface! ARGGGHHH!!!!!!!!
I don't think I could stand that.
