I like it! The only thing I would change is the type font.

TBN Grill Medallion Poll

Ok, here's my opinion::::
I believe that the one shown on the grille in post 147 is biased towards Red and stands out too much. Of course it would be a favorite for those who have a Red car. It might even look OK on a Black car such as mine. However, I think that I would only buy a medallion if it were more traditional.
If not plain, chrome or SS Steel with the writing, then the only color I would consider would be the Turquoise (T-Bird Blue). These would probably tend to blend in with this beautiful car as opposed to standing out/drawing attention from the car.
I would not put anything else on. Like I said, just my opinion.

Thank you for your comments...
I own a Thunderbird Blue car and designed the Grill Medallion in post 147 to represent TBN... not a specific car color.
Post 147 medallion is based on two ideas...
(1) What color combination would make it easiest to read "ThunderbirdNest.com" and (2) what color combination would enhance the retro Thunderbird emblem...
Post 147 incorporates all the original 2002 colors. The letters are easier to read using the yellow letters with black background.
The emblem looks better with either a red or black background. Since the black was already used, the red surrounded by the white circle enhanced the eagle the most. Both white and Thunderbird Blue backgrounds blended with the emblem too much.
BTW... Let's not push to get a medallion that only matches our car. In 2002 that is aprox 1/5th of the members... add the color combinations of the following years and the statistics get worse... that will only please a few... and having an all chrome medallion may blend with the grill too much...
Using the Thunderbird logo letters will enhance the medallion but I don't have that capability in my software program. I am in hopes that someone will help me insert that script in the medallion before we go to vote...
What is most important to me... is that our medallion represents us as a group... a good group with good people... well worth promoting... and that is why I will put a TBN medallion on my grill...Last edited by 02thunderbird; Dec 29, 2003, 02:19 PM.

02thunderbird,
Lookin' good. Do a web search on raceway font, it is very close to the Thunderbird script, close enough to get an idea of what it would look like with the correct font.
Could you attach a picture of the badge so we can all see it somewhat larger?Go Bucs! Go Gators

Monkey Wrench into things.
I hate to throw a monkey wrench into all this because I am in favor of putting one on my Bird. BUT, has anyone looked at just how we will mount these. I took a look this weekend at mine and am not sure right now. I know it will have to bolt on to or through the grill. I have posted a pic. of the grill. To start with you have to get to the back of the grill, this invloves removing a panal under the hood, you just can't reach behind the grill and bolt it on. After that is taken care of you then have to deal with, from what I can see is about 4" to 5" inches of foam behind the grill. There is about 2" above the foam where you might be able to get to but below that is the foam. I don't know if the panel under the hood is removed if you can get your hand behind the foam to mount this or if the foam section can be removed to install this, I dought that this foam can be removed.
Has anyone taken the front end apart this far to see just what we would be dealing with?Last edited by Gobird; Dec 29, 2003, 02:36 PM.They are Here. Scotty, beam me up!IT'S 5 O'CLOCK SOMEWHERE

Let's just put a big stickpin on the back of the medallion that we can jab into the foam.

Should have easier access from removing the supplemental lights. Don't know about how much foam there is though, how about just a longer pin?
I still am leaning towards a white back ground, turquoise bird and silver THUNDERBIRD NEST. COM writing!

It will work if it is positioned for the medallion lugs to penetrate above the foam. This is the approximate vertical center of the grill. The problem then becomes how to get in there to tighten the fastener, etc. Go figure that one out. I will be talking with the service manager at the dealership tomorrow and I will ask him about access to the area behind the grill. The grill itself must be replacable. I also saw that someone got a body shop manual for Christmas..you know who you are! Help!!
To me, any color would be OK. The brighter the color the better. The '55 V8 emblems (in Red) look nice on the Thunderbird Blues and I have a set of the V8s on my Inspiration Yellow. The Red is very striking in my opinion and I wouldn't object to it. The only color that would clash with the red would definitely be the Merlot. Red would compliment all other colors. Turquoise is the traditional color favorite for the Thunderbirds and is the trademark color, so to speak. It would be OK, to be of turquoise, too.
The only thing I don't like about the badge 02thunderbird is suggesting is the ThunderbirdNest name being split up. I would prefer to see it maintained in one word/phrase. Maybe have the TBN logo on top and the ThunderbirdNest.com in small text on the bottom. The example pictured on the grill presents the badge at a real small scale. You would have to be really close to read the text anyway.
After all, it's just a symbol designating that we are part of a club and enjoy the same automobile and friendships. It will be something that we would notice on other Tbirds indicating membership in the same club. Can you imagine passing another TBird with the badge. It would surely make you wonder 'who was that?' and 'I should know them'.
Keep digging, we'll figure this one out eventually.2002 Inspiration Yellow

I like it the way it is. There will be no problem finding a way to attach it without defacing the grill. Lets start getting some prices for the manufacture and sale. Not the least of which is finding out if we need Ford's permission to use the Thunderbird symbol and if we do what will it take.Bob Moss
