  • 02, I like #6 , or 2nd row 2nd medalion. The avatar you are useing is well balanced and pulls together all our colors and, I think it would look great on any color car. It seems classic and well finished.

And for an attatchment how about the ones that you pinch together and they spring open to attatch and hold. (sorta like a safety pin with two outward L brackets on the ends. ) That way it could be removed for any reason. Joy

        • Quickdraw (post 172) - I like it. Two changes I would make, 1) move it 4 spaces to the left (just left of accessory light) and 2) I'd like to see it in Chrome with black letters. Leave the bird as it is

          • Folks - this thread is driving me crazy !!!!!!!!!!! There is no perfect design or absolutely correct size, mounting location, color, etc. IMHO, we are making this WAY TO DIFFICULT. The whole objective (or so I thought, and as stated in a previous reply by someone else) is to (i) allow us TBNers to identify our brethern and (ii) make the 'uninformed' aware of this site. I'll buy and mount the TBN grill medallion ... whatever it ends up being. Let's just settle on a design and get on with it so we can make it happen before the 100th TB anniversary rolls around. :tbn:

            • I have contacted a company that made lapel pins for me several years ago. They are reputable and very professional. They have done badges before and are willing to work with us to design and produce a badge. Their art department will embellish anything we send to them. The name of the company is PinSource and their phone number is 800-678-9288. I spoke with Mark and he is ready to speak with someone to get this project rolling. I suggest that Jerry or Todd give him a call and see what they can do for us.

              • fums6,

This is definately a step in the right direction. May I suggest that we go a couple of days longer to let anyone who is currently working on a medallion complete it and then have all the designs posted and have a poll to see which comes out on top. I agree that no one badge is going to be perfect for all but I think that we do need a consensus.

                • Ok guys, this is not a corporation and we all have jobs, families, and other issues just as important. Please exercise a little patience and we'll eventually proceed forward. I've been sitting back, monitoring the dialog, and trying to compile some of the key issues. I won't discuss these details at this time.

We continue, as a club, to have a vocal few and I was hoping for a broader involvement. This is not to say that I haven't been amused by the various opinions. This, in fact, has been a lot of fun and has evidently captured the attention of a lot of viewers. But as in the previous note, we still don't have anthing to show. I agree with the 'let's have some action' recommendation.

The moderators have been discussing this in the moderator forum (of which I'm not one) and I'm awaiting the details of what is permissible. I haven't even heard that we can use the TBN logo. So, once things are settled there, then we can take up the banner and march forward. The moderator team has been very busy with the planning of the spring event in Georgia. Please understand we are all very anxious to see this proceed forward. Also, with the big event coming up, it'll be up to the rest of us to step up to the plate.

This will NOT be a project of one (similar to the Invinca-Shield project) and I will need help. Not only will time be involved, but there will be a slight financial risk in producing that many badges.

There will be an effort in the development of the concept badge, and the marketing and distribution of that many items will be very time consuming. Here again, not a one person project.

In my normal job, I have a week long business seminar to attend in mid January. I can't organize too much before that completes. If anyone feels challenged and would like to take the lead on this effort, I would not be offended.

Please continue to flood this thread with your example pictures, we love your ideas. Later, we'll post a poll to select the badge design. At this point, I'll have to say, "I'm sorry since we can't please everyone, but that's just what happens." After the design vote, you'll again have the option of either buying or not buying the badge. Since I won't be doing this for profit, I will not be stockpiling extras. This means you had better get in on the first round. You can buy as many as you please.

If you are interested in either working on this project or taking the lead, then PM me, I'll get back to you. I will tell you, I plan on having the moderator team approve both the lead and the team membership.
I must admit, at times I feel a little out of place filling the leadership role.

Now is the time put action into all those previous posts. Consider wisely.

                    02TBird,
Two suggestions (I don't have the capability or smarts to do it):

1- Delete the TBN and run Thunderbirdnest.com (one word) around the top and maybe TBN (all caps) on the bottom.

2- Use your last example, but use all caps on the TBN (looked like Tbn to me)

I really like the Blk/Red/Yel/Blu medallion w/gear teeth!

                      • I kept mine relatively simple. I kept the concept to capture the bird, logo and the porthole. The area behind the bird would be open. The TBN logo would be raised and attached to the porthole rim. The bird is also raised.

Great job! I like the nice, neat, lines of your example.

                          • KarylP......Now that's great thinking! I could envision that with a stud off the back of the Bird for attachment.

                              • Jerryp actually posted that for me as I have been very busy lately, and I have not had time to review any posts for a few days on this. My design, which Jerry also was kind enough to work on for me, since I haven't been able to myself (I drew it out for him when we first began this topic of discussion), is an attempt to incorporate the porthole, the wings and TBN logo, all of which symbolize this car to me. The center "circle" can actually be a solid black. I was also trying to limit the colors to those that will be attractive on all cars.

If we use the words "ThunderbirdNest.com" can we have that ETCHED or black, rather than a color?

I like the one in #183 and also Luvhisbird's example.
I'm really more concerned with color than design of the medallion. I just don't want it to be too colorful. It needs to look good on all cars. I don't think anything with red or even yellow would be attractive on a Merlot, VMG, possibly a DSB, the new PCCruiser, and we don't even know what the 05 colors will be. A red and yellow medallion on a dusk rose would not quite do it.
If we stay with chrome, turquoise, and maybe black the medallion will be tasteful on all cars.

I think it would be nice if we somehow were able to incorporate the porthole and wings into the design, and TBN logo. Why else would we develop a logo if not for things such as this?
