Parts availability for my 2005 Thunderbird will be available long after parts for my 1942 Body are obtainable. :-) There are 30,000 cars out there and as time goes on many will be retired to used parts resellers, (junk yards in my day).

Copart, a national salvage company has (2) 2002 Ford Thunderbird wrecks they will auction off soon. One is in Alabama and the other is in Texas. Since 1/2 of all the Retro Tbirds sold were 2002 models there should never be a parts problem for them.

        I agree Cal.

The only 'problem' will be higher prices as demand increases and supply decreases.

A 'Retro Parts Car Collective' might be a good idea. Members of the collective would have access to whatever they need and 'extras' could be sold to offset costs and maybe even generate some profits.

This is just an idea. I'm not starting one, I'm not promoting one, and I'm not trying to solicit TBN members to join me in doing it.

If you are up to it, do a search for; parts wanted, and that may give you a few clues

This whole subject of parts availability for 2002-2005 T-Birds has not yet reached 'critical mass.' That is, MOST parts can still be found, even if it takes more time and effort.

I'm not aware of any company that specializes in 'Retro' parts exclusively ... yet. the demand is just not yet sufficient to make it a viable business. At some point in the future one or more companies will probably get into it. But not as long as salvage yards and usedrebuilt part suppliers can still meet the demand. Prices will have to go up to make it profitable for a company to specialize in Retro parts exclusively. This may be another 10-15 years or more down the road. As the Retros themselves increase in value, the cost of replacement parts probably won't be a big issue. It all depends on what Retros might bring 10-20 years or more from now.
