Recently, there was a thread regarding TBirds and the celebrities that owned, or once owned, TBirds.

Look at the list of celebrities that owned 55/56/57 TBirds and compare that list to the 2002/03/04/05 retro celebrity list (I believe there were two).

While I admit that the car does get looks and compliments, that would be like me looking at a Javelin or an Edsel. I might look at the car and compliment the owner, but I would never buy one.

So, I do not foresee a big increase in retro value except to keep abreast with inflation....maybe.

But, it will do better than an Avalon from the same time period.

I won't be here 10 years from now, so I don't really care. Will pass on voting.

Where are you going Charlie? Who am I going to have a beer with at the TBN events in 2025?

I said 20% higher because I think they have pretty much bottomed out and when they're 20 to 23 years old and new cars are going to be around $75,000. for a mid-priced car. They will have so many electronic gadgets on them you won't even have to steer them, let alone apply the brakes. They may even be talking to each other while the driver is on his/her smart-aleck phone.

What's even more evident is the prediction by TBN owners (who likely have a much more positive opinion of the car than the general public) of whether the T-Bird is a good investment. Compared with a typical 7% average gain for diversified stock market investments, only two people (out of 73 in the poll) think the Bird will be a better investment in the next 10 years. (The stock investment over 10 years would be 97% higher future value)

Now there are two things absent in the above equation:
a) I didn't include expenses like maintenance, taxes, insurance, storage. If these were included the poll might not have anyone believing the car would possibly be a better investment.
b) I didn't include the value of the "fun" factor. If this was included? Well, that's really why we're all owning the car.

My conclusion ... the car is not an investment and shouldn't be considered as one.

Yes Pat we all know that David's handy work is not junk. We all know that he put at least 15-20 seconds worth of effort into it.



Interesting to note that 57.5% of us answering the poll think that our babies will not be worth more in the future than they are today.

So Phil and I are not any where near agreement on this point. I just hope I'm wrong and he's right and we both get to live long enough to see the results. Would love to stay and continue this discussion but happy hour starts in 45 minutes. Maybe I'll poll the attendees!

Yes, I actually have the first prototype and I do not consider it JUNK as you continue to refer to our mods. It is priceless !!!!

David, I said I DON'T consider you dash kit junk !!! Anyone who knows you would understand how much work went into the design and manufacture of this exclusive modification. Only Jeannie can testify to the sleepless nights that went into this project not to mention the numerous trips to the Patent Office for final approval. I can hardly wait for your next project. Should we look for it under the name YOREL ?

David has also upgraded his manufacturing process with help from QVC for sharp and winkle free appearance.

Ray: I hate to say this, but I think 2bad4u's formula makes more sense. Sorry, I know you worked hard on that one, but I have to be honest.

Leroy: I would be glad to work with you on my dash kit. I spent a lot of time and money on it making sure it is totally reversible and does no damage. It leaves no residue either which is a real bonus.

A car is not a money investment for mods. As a rule of thumb, 10% of the value of the car is the max to install mods and no more.
Alain at 10% I've reached my max! But what fun it has been! Since I have no plans to sell Black Beauty and loose all my new friends here I couldn't care what the value will be, it will have been worth it!

As I already mentionned, it depends of your personnality. If you want to invest more, go for it.
