                    MacFrank

OK, I got the message the first time!

Like Tom F. said, it would help if Paul Harris had an e-mail address for contact, even though you gave a toll-free number.

I was unable to get on this website all day up until about 30 minutes ago, so I'll contact Mr. Harris tomorrow.

                    Thanks.

I sure hope we get the S/S for the top issue, but until we do, I thought I'd share my anti-scuffing experience.

I found this site right after I bought my car, so when it was time to put the hardtop on for the winter, I was aware of all the different methods used by Nest members to protect from scuffing. I even talked on the phone to the guy who has the only S/S fix on his car, and after talking to him was convinced that S/S was the best solution by far. But unfortunately, getting the S/S strips wasn't an option.

Anyway, I read where Nest member, Chris, put TrimBrite strips on his deck, and that he was very pleased with it. I emailed him several times and decided to try it. I put the TrimBrite strips on my car in November, when I put the hardtop on for the first time. It made the top fit tight, and I had no rattles, noise, or anything when I was driving. Then I started reading about 3-M strips, Invecta Shield strips, etc., and I got paranoid that the TrimBrite might not be the best way to protect the deck.

So last Friday, I took my car into a local shop and had them remove the TrimBrite (which was very easy to do), and had them put on the clear tape shields. I didn't use Invecta Shield, but I'm sure it was just like it, because it was much thicker than the strips that came from Ford. (By the way, my top left no scuff marks on my deck, just using the TrimBrite). I drove the car Friday and Saturday, and I couldn't believe how much more noise there was.....rattles, creaking, etc. I took the top off Sunday and put TrimBrite strips back on the car, over the clear tape. (I'm now double protected). I put the top back on today, and now my car is quiet again. The thickness of the TrimBrite makes the hardtop seal tighter.

Until the S/S becomes available, I'm very happy with the TrimBrite solution. It's cheap, it's easy, it works, and it's easy to remove when hardtop season is over. The TrimBrite strips come in either all black or chrome. I used chrome the first time, and I used black this time. I think I like the black better, because you really don't notice it, even when the hardtop is off. It kind of blends in with the black soft top.

There's a well known shop close to where I live called the Custom Shop. (www.customshop.org) The people there do unbelievable things with cars, trucks, and motorcycles. Check out the site for photos. If you click on 'previous updates', and then 'spring 2003', you'll see a couple of pictures of the Fiero they did for me. I sent him photos of the TBIRD that has the S/S strips, and asked him to see if he could make them. If Paul Harris can't do it, maybe the guys at the Custom Shop will be able to.

                        taflocks and Proboxfan,

As posted earlier in this thread the e-mail address is:

                        http://www.apadco.com/

I have e-mailed Paul of my interest in the production of the SS Hard Top trim pieces.

                        AZ YellowBird,
As to a TBN discount...I purchased the SS Rocker Panels from him, and when I asked about a discount, he said thier prices are so low he can't discount them further. It has been my experience, and that of other members, that Paul takes care of his customers, and I would buy from him with confidence.

The s/s for the Hard Top can not be that expensive. The s/s Rocker Panels being 6 pieces (3 each side) are $ 150.00.

I am sure the s/s strips will not be that expensive. In quantity they will be a lot less, I am sure of it.

However, please call Paul Harris (888) 522-2465 and ask him.

If he can produce them, I am sure he will give us TBN a special price. All will depend on quantities.

Just spoke to Paul. He is trying to get his supplier interested in producing the s/s strips. Bye the way, he mentioned that they are looking at s/s rings for the tail lights as well. That might be interesting.
