    Re: Aftermarket Performance Enhancements

Except for putting a set of 04 wheels on my 03, mine's staying stock.

To me, the TBird is a refined roadster, not (please, take no offense) a hot rod. The slight exhaust note when hitting the gas pedal is just enough to make me happy. (With a quieter exhaust note than my TBird, my Lincon LS actually feels quicker, even though they are most likely equal.)

Again, not trying to offend you folks with the Borlas, but that's just my opinion, and, as Dennis Miller used to say, I could be wrong.

      Jerry,
You are absolutely right, everyopne has a right to state their opinion here and certainly about what they want or do not want to put on their Bird. Thanks for doing it in such a nice manner.

        Re: Aftermarket Performance Enhancements

The great thing about automotive enthusiasts is that there is room for many schools of thought....some would argue that the level of expertise and difficulty in restoring a vintage t-bird to the original design absent of modifications down to the 'chalk marks installed on the assembly line is more challenging and desirable to collectors vs. an altered one. At the other end are the tinkerers who are intrigued by engineering and fabrication who from scratch will build a one of a kind car with parts and materials from hundreds of sources that is a work of art in their eyes (and mine). In between those, everyone else can find their 'niche . Thats why I like this group ...diversity keeps the interest up.......I don't prefer to change anything (on this car) but I embrace the interest and knowledge from those who do.

I added the K & N filter to the factory air box. Other than that, it's bone stock!

Only a couple more days to vote and post on this thread. We have over 1,700 members and only 70 have cast a vote on the poll. We can do much better than that.

Ooops, I almost forgot, in addition to the K & N filter in the stock air box, I added a die cut K & N decal to the intake tube. My independent testing proves that it takes the minimal HP gains from the filter alone and induces a coolness multiplier factor of 4.75. So now my 'Bird makes something like 500 HP...I think!!

Ford totaly screwed up in trying to reproduce the 55 Tbird sound. There is a little rumble with the top down, but with top up it sounds just pitiful.

I am thinking about Borlas too.

My Chrysler 300M and now the 300C has a nice rumble when provoked.

                  HKS,
Get the Borla and that will end your problem.

                          Re: Aftermarket Performance Enhancements

Dave, these cars are so rare that a stocker is unique.

In the NY/NJ metro area, there's not a lot of opportunity (unless you want to take a ride around 2AM) to use the power that the stock bird has.

I have one location driving home from work where I can jump on it, and that's where I pay my toll to get on the NJ Turnpike off the Lincoln Tunnel. That's where the Lincoln LS gets to stretch it's legs, because the Bird is rarely my daily driver.

Other than that, if I nail it, I'd be up somebody's backside real quick.

Oh yeah, NJ insurance companies just love to raise your rates or drop you entirely when you gat a few traffic violations.

Ain't worth it, in my book. But, you other folks, go for it.

This is the last day to cast your vote. Haven't broken 80 votes yet and it would be nice to have 100 as the sample size.

Keeping Birds pure still leads with 54% of the votes.

                              Bruce,

So far I had to vote stock, but who knows what will happen over the winter. I won't be able to detail her when it goes below 50 so in order to bond with her during the winter I might have to go into the garage and start doing the mods.
