Jim sorry to hear, but a better situation will appear. I looked at 4 or 5 retros that due to my limited bird budget were all junk. When Kelly told me her precious 'Baby Blue' needed a caring new home, and she was aware of my car care history she just said 'make me an offer' I offered what I'd consider an unrealistically low offer that she accepted. She then said..'come and get your car'...........cloud nine for sure...good luck

Thanks, all, for the kind comments. I've communicated with them this morning and told them it's no deal...they dropped the price about $1200 (to pay for the shipping of the car) to 23,300, but that's not even in the ballpark for me. If things change, I'll let you all know, but I highly doubt it. I appreciate all the wisdom you all have given on this thread - I've used it to help me make sure I'm not being taken for a "ride"...our budget doesn't allow us the flexibility of many of you on this site, so we try to do things right. Perhaps next time.

Jim as a very well respected member of this community I find it encouraging to see that you are pursuing another Bird.

When God closes a door, He always opens a window. I can’t see that price point as realistic. I know that the right one will come along in time.

Jim I looked at a number of rertos but all in tough shape. Then, like a mini miracle this 03 DSB appears at a price I can ill turn down! Yours will too!

Agree...and perhaps it's just not meant to happen...ever. And I'll have to be okay with that, too. In all of this, I've certainly learned some hard lessons!

They figured Birds with similarities to it are selling for b/t 28 and 29K - at 24K, they think they're offering a "deal"...just not gonna happen.
If they don't know that all the '05s were the 50th Anniversary Model, they probably don't know that an Inca Gold is RARE. They call it yellow in the Ads, so I don't think they did any research at all. When I got my '05 EB in 2006 the first time I took it to a different local Ford dealer, someone said "Oh it's the 50th Anniversary Model". That's why I named the car "Annie".

Which is why I would have closed the door myself last night. Otherwise last evening I would have had a room full of snow....

In the interim, you folks reading this have any suggestions on what would be a fair price for this car?

Probably the one and the same, Cal.

I was looking at the photos of the IG at Ballentine Ford in Greenwood, SC (186 miles from Charleston). It appears that it does not have the Select-Shift transmission. Is that a clue to the history, Quickdraw?
